Last year I started writing a novella to fit into the Armageddon Angels series between Apocalypse Rising and Apocalypse in the Balance. A year later, the book is written, but it is no longer a novella. The story took on a life of its own and grew to novel length. Now I have a book, and it is almost ready to hit the printer.
So if you become a backer, what are you backing?
Apocalypse Rising: The Coming Darkness is an Urban Fantasy about a fallen Angel named Justin. He just happens to be one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the Grim Reaper himself, Death. A year has passed since he remembered who he was and what he is. He is regaining some of the abilities and memories he lost when he chose to fall to earth and live amongst humans, but he has a long way to go before he can fully reclaim his title. When Justin comes across a young girl being chased by a monster, he does what he can to save her, but he soon discovers this is no normal girl, and failing to save her will change the world forever.
This book is a little shorter than the previous two at 54,000 words, but I am excited about it. I delve into the life and history of Justin and fill in some of the gaps between the first two books. It’s a thrill ride filled with action and romance, and I think you will really enjoy it.
So what will the Kickstarter Campaign be funding? The base goal of $500 will pay to have the cover art and wrap around done by Rachel Bostwick, and with that I will also be paying for the first print run of the book so that I can have copies available to sell through my website and at various shows and venues. I’ll also be able to pay for some leased shelf space at a local bookstore in the Charlotte area. It will also pay for me to relocate my website to a new server, and maybe even some time with a professional to make it bring in more readers.
If we hit the stretch goal of $1500 I’ll be able to afford a blog tour campaign through Novelpublicity.com. I’ve worked with the owners and staff and I know what an awesome job they do getting books and reviews in front of readers. Getting to work with them would be a dream come true.
If we make it past that? Well I have some ideas, but that is a ways to go still and I will update the goals if we start to get close.
Risks and challenges
The only real risk here is me. If I end up in the hospital for some reason or die, well then there might be a delay in getting the book out on time. The book is written and in the process of being edited. With the progress I am making, I will be able to have this done on time and the book in your hands before Christmas.
The only other potential hold up is if we hit the goal and something happens to prevent the cover from getting done on time. to help avoid this issue, I am going to pay to have the cover done the moment we hit goal, rather than wait for the funds to come in. This should give the artist plenty of time, and since I have already talked with her about it, we should be in very good shape on that front as well.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
