Reached the Espionage Pack! Here's a funny video

Posted by Larkon Studio Inc. (Creator)

Thank you, dear backers for backing the Espionage Pack. We're starting our work on it right away along with some of our concept art for the Arch-Mage Pack and the Level1 Immersion.

In the meantime, as promised, we've uploaded a funny concept inspired by Lochie. We call it:

When Epic Treasure Chest is Too Epic! (Please wait for the animated GIF)

Well, don't worry, you won't be attacked by vicious treasure chests... except for rare occasions in the Kickstarter Edition

Next update will include the new graphics for the Arch-Mage pack, which will include new magic effects, shields and volumetric heat wave effects.

And again, thank you for your support, your support is already shaping CivCraft's features and graphics to new levels!

So hard to find good mimics in games these days. I'm glad to see you're going to introduce them. I remember one time running a D&D game pretty much screaming at my players, one specifically, that trying to open a certain chest would lead to certain death...well they didn't listen and the mimic was very very happy about it. *much much much* though my team did make good use of his corpse to help escape from a hoard of goblins.

Then that'd create a fair few bugs, although it'd be kind of funny if you gave little hats to your chest, heh send it on a diplomatic mission, with the most Dapper top hat or such you can find, although it'd scare the hell out of some given enough time around humans, it could be a decent diplomat, but I'm just firing off some other little ideas for it. maybe if it fails a mission, you could see or find it sitting in a gutter or the bar looking as sad as a chest could look, would be kind of funny it it had anime eyes or something. But these are just ideas perhaps silly ones but ideas none the less ^_^

Or maybe a trainable living chest? It would start with a disoriented mood and then get smarter depending on your dialog options. You'll have to tell it when to be stealthy, who to attack and when to stay put.

Yet another possibility for the 'living chest' concept. Maybe some of them are friendly and talkative - maybe TOO friendly and talkative, especially if you're trying to sneak past a monster or guard, or whatever. "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY ARE YOU CRAWLING AROUND LIKE THAT? IS THIS A GAME?" This could attract unwanted attention (in addition to being annoying to just listen to). The whole 'living chest' concept has a number of possibilities to explore.

That's a good idea. We'll check about implementing that feature. We like the living chest concept

you know, what if a spy came across some epic looking chest, and it turns out to be a mimic kind of like the ones from dark souls, except it draws you into conversations, before "possibly" pulling out a two handed axe and "possibly" chasing you around the castle as subtly as possible, or maybe it'll just follow you in a really creepy way or would this be a little too out there, then when the spy returns there could the very same chest getting absolutely hammered at the very same tavern, okay I'm getting off track here well it was off track to begin with :P Still it'd be a little funny in a weird way.

Great video! I also want monster chests. Its one of the few things that really make me jump, in a game like this. I think because my attention is so focused on what's inside and then I have to completely switch gears and defend myself AND I still want to find out what is inside so I can't run away!
Idea: Maybe, instead of items, you could learn something from the chest based on your level of charm, say. Or they could be trapped creatures that have been turned into a chest, some helpful, some not. Many choices here...

I'm really liking what I see so far.

(BTW, thanks for the Steam announcement you sent me about the CivCraft group. I never would have known about this game otherwise.)

As part of the Arch Mage pack, you'll be able to create golems, minions and other magical beings. The living chest will be included in the Kickstarter edition
