The Grand Scheme of Things is our second piece as Kopfkino. We’ve been working on the show for the last 18 months, and we’re finally ready to go! However, we need your help to get us to the Edinburgh Festival.

Flora and Nic have been friends for years, for pretty much the whole of history. But now their shared history is ripping them apart. As they destroy their own relationship in name of self-protection, they reveal what they truly mean to each other, and how they’ll fight for what they believe in.

The Grand Scheme Of Things is a deeply personal show about scapegoating and living through revolutionary times.

We were shortlisted for the Edinburgh Untapped Award 2019.

We scratched our initial ideas at The Yard theatre, followed by a residency at Pleasance Islington as part of LITMUS. We’re now being supported by The New Diorama (NDT) and Battersea Arts Centre (BAC), where we’re making the final version of the show.

Our first show, The Bearpit, premiered at the Fringe 2017, and we’ve since performed it all over the country, from HOME and NDT as part of Incoming Festival 2018, to Theatre503, Camden People’s Theatre and The Wardrobe in Bristol. We got some pretty lovely reviews along the way. 'Writing like a firework going off in your face' (WhatsOnStage ****), 'A deeply atmospheric piece, achieved with style' (Broadway Baby ****), 'A stunning debut' (730Review ****).

Our work is gaining interest and momentum, and taking The Grand Scheme of Things to Edinburgh will allow us to take the next steps in our careers. We can cement existing relationships, and develop new partnerships with theatres around the UK and beyond (both of us have valid passports and Duolingo accounts).

This is an exciting point in our development as a company, but in such a difficult funding climate, we can’t do it on our own.

We need to raise £3200 to take the show to Edinburgh. This covers venue hire (£1380), brochure costs and registration fees (£940), marketing, travel from Bristol to Edinburgh (Megabus dreamz for £80), accommodation for the festival, and some planks of wood we are somehow going to manufacture into a projector screen.

Our success with The Bearpit was a direct result of the crowd funding investment and support we received.

To be blunt, there’s no way we could have achieved any of it on our own; it gave us the chance we needed.

This time, we’re even more ambitious. We’ve made a show that excites us, and are performing at a venue we love (Underbelly, 1.40pm)  - we’re stocking up on Berocca and waterproofs already.

We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved, and really excited for what’s to come. Now we need your support to help us reach our goals.

Thank you so much!

Risks and challenges

The Fringe is a very difficult marketplace. Between the two of us, we have nearly a decades' worth of experience producing work at the fringe. We are confident we've got the skills we need to attract the audiences and industry that we need for the show to be a success.
We have an incredible network of support who we can call on for advice, from producers to actors.
Basically. We've made something really exciting. The Grand Scheme Of Things is a massive step forward for us. We just need your help to get us to Edinburgh.
