A zomedy with guts!
GOAL HIT ALREADY, AMAZING THANK YOU GUYS!
STRETCH GOAL #1 ACHIEVED :D
RENTED... to the DEAD, is a comedy, horror comic in the same vein as the Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland movies.
Set in the UK, its a story about loss, love, loneliness, sarcasm, horror and chronic boredom.
Our heroes are a group of twenty something employees of "RENT-IT" an international chain of rental movie stores, who are on the brink of facing bankruptcy. Based in the town of Maidstone in Kent (UK), our story shows how our survivors endure life against a backdrop of economic fears and social unrest, highlighting subjects such as UK high street/retail decline, 2011's London Riots and overhyped media paranoia.
The story begins with a news report about out of control rioting in the UKs capitol. As the police lose control and become overrun, people are starting to change, but is that the result of a strange madness, something more sinister... or just zombies! We have a vast selection of rewards for our backers from signed copies of the comic, to appearing as the main character, in your own mini-comic prequel.
We are also taking pledges so that you and your likeness can appear as zombies and survivors in the comic and all our backers get a mention in our thank you and credit pages.
All our backers will receive free avatars and facebook & twitter banners (can be emailed or downloaded from www.facebook.com/robotzombiecomics)
We also have some cool t-shirts in development, where as part of selected rewards, backers can increase their bid to receive one of these snazzy numbers!
Also, if you require any additional copies of the comic, just add the reward price of the book to your pledge.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There was a previous Kickstarter for this project that we failed to fund. The campaign got off to a pretty good start, but unfortunately we had a tough few weeks in the middle.Since the project ended we elected to re-evaluate the project as a whole and determine what we truly needed to make this thing work. First was eliminating the need for letterers and colourists and to do all the artwork ourselves. Second was determining that the rewards we were offering were inadequate and unfairly priced.
Taking on all of the artwork duties we were able to cut costs and set this project for a much more manageable level. We have also finished the comics pencils and inks, leaving the panels, which would feature backers blank and ready to complete once the project is funded.
Also the guidance of many of our previous backers, some of which are experienced KS backers, who offered feedback and advice into how the project should be set up.
