Hi, my name is Courtney and I love yarn, a lot. I knit, crochet, spin yarn, and recently added dyeing to my repertoire. I am the hostess of The Fearless Knitter podcast, where I talk about my knitting, spinning, and other crafty adventures. I am also a stay at home mom and I want to fulfill my dream of being able to work from home with yarn, because I can't imagine anything better, but to stay at home with my daughter and work with my passion for yarn.
I will be using acid dyes and natural fibers, such as most common Merino/Nylon Blend, Bluefaced Leicester, and fiber roving for spinners. I also will experiment with different colors, specifically bright colors and different dyeing techniques, such as tonals, variegates, even self striping and gradients.
How Can You Help?
Funding for this project will be used as a start up for my business, dyeing supplies, sending out backer rewards, and mostly to build my inventory.
More specifically I am starting from scratch, I will need to purchase the dyes, undyed yarn, marketing, safety equipment, and shipping materials. I set a low funding goal of $500, because I will only get the basics enough to get me started. Once I am started all the money I will make will go straight back into the business.
If I should go over my goal, I will be able to buy more undyed yarn, a skein winder, and things I would need to have a booth at shows (such as table, shelving, etc.)
I know I won't be able to make a living of this right away, but maybe in a couple years who knows. This is just to jump start my business.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me and thank you for checking out my project.
Risks and challenges
One of the challenges I might face are shipping delays, in case I have to order more supplies than initially anticipated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
