Flipture: An App to aid memorizing scripture.
We'll develop a friendly, fun game that is quick to access and easy to use. Swipe the screen, or shake the phone -- tumblers roll and you're given a randomized scripture to read, then match up it's reference.
Launch it on your phone or at home in a web browser. Keep track of your results. Connect with your social networks and share what you're memorizing and meaningful comments.
We'd deploy a minimum Free version with advertising and encouragement to upgrade to a paid version.
Payments will offset ongoing development costs and profits will flow to charity.
Future versions incorporate a vision for multi-user gaming that could be rolled up into various kinds of scripture contests. Winners would be able to select charities to receive their proceeds.
We need developers and volunteers.
Risks and challenges
We are concerned with developing collaborative relationships -- both from a gaming perspective and from the development point of view. The hope is to begin with a very simple app that operates on various platforms.
A early risk to manage revolves around developing a database of subject areas -- one example being scripture as suggested in my video.
So moving down in granularity in this example: there is no need to include all of scripture. A future version might cross-reference esoteric verses, but now KiSS. The hope is we'll find a range of pre-defined scripture tables -- perhaps developed by a publisher, or Seminary -- preferably in the public domain.
A future concern will be partnerships to access API's that permit expansion across language, biblical translations and other format frontiers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
