A YEAR AGO THIS WEEK THIS EVENT TOOK PLACE.
(October 11th 2014)
Please have a look at the trailer for the forthcoming Film/TV Documentary/DVD of Richard Strange's ambitious William Burroughs event LANGUAGE IS A VIRUS FROM OUTER SPACE, a live multi-media performance which took place at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre on October 11th 2014, featuring new work by Gavin Bryars, Gavin Turk, Doctors of Madness, Joe Elliot, Bill Nelson, Sarah Jane Morris, Anni Hogan, Luca Silvestrini, Jeremy Reed, Rupert Thomson, We Are Children (We Make Sound), David Coulter, Seb Rochford, Raf and O and Richard Strange.
The performance was made possible by financial support from The Arts Council and The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, but mainly by generous donations from individuals as part of the original Kickstarter campaign over a year ago. I wanted to show you that your money and faith, (and our time) has not been wasted since the curtain came down.
The footage is astonishing, the performances are riveting, With my director, Neville Farmer, we need to edit the 30 hours of footage we have of the evening into a coherent whole. We estimate the total cost to be £10,000 ($15,000 US) to finish the film to the standard we would hope. Please help us raise half of the money to complete the editing of the full length document of this unique and inspiring evening of live responses, in his centenary year, to the work of US writer William Burroughs. There is NO more filming to be done, and no other payments to be made. Just the costs of editing. Any amount, however large or small, will be used uniquely to bring this project to fruition.
All supporters will receive a credit on the finished film. Thank you so much for your support thus far. You made the live event happen…now please help make the event available to those who were not lucky enough to be there on the night.

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk and the biggest challenge was mounting the live event a year ago, and filming this one- off, no-second-chances array of international artistic talent sharing one evening, one stage, one vision, one inspiration. Reshooting was impossible- this HAD to work FIRST TIME. IT DID!! We have seen the hours and hours of footage, and it is GOLD-DUST!- Great performances, great shots, and the sound has been remixed by the award winning record producer John Leckie (whose previous projects include working with Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Radiohead, Stone Roses and a galaxy of million-selling artistes).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
