What is GAME BYTE?
Game Byte is an open source gaming system for creating, sharing, and playing games. It's SMALL! About the size of a credit card and fits in your pocket so you can take it with you wherever you go. You can play one of the over 100 free games available or learn how to create your own. The built in microSD card slot allows you to store your games on an SD card without plugging into a computer.
What's with these free games you keep talking about?
That's right. There are over 100 free games online, thanks to the many independent game developers for Arduino. These games are also open source so you can learn from them. Here are a few places you can find the free games.
The SD Card is key
With all of those games you're going to need a place to store them. The ATmega processor is very impressive, but doesn't have a whole lot of space to store all of your favorites. You're welcome!
Learn how to program your own games and share them with your friends. Or even reprogram it to act like a USB mouse and keyboard. Uses the same processor as the Arduino Leonardo and Micro.
Is it going to be Open Source? (I mean like for realzies open source open source)
YES! We love the open source community. We used Eagle to design the PCB and Fusion 360 to design the enclosure. This will be available for everyone to learn and even customize.

We need your help to bring this product from prototype to production so that everyone can have the chance to own a Game Byte. The tooling for an injection mold is very expensive so we are using Kickstarter to help raise the funds. These plastic injection molds will make this into a nice finished product with a beautifully designed enclosure.
Risks and challenges
The remaining risks on this project are minimal since we have made it past the functional prototype stage.
We have already completed a few variations of the enclosure design using 3D printing. The design rules for injections molds are slightly different and we will need to adjust our design in order to make it work. Luckily we will have great support from our custom mold shop.
