About

Luck of The Leprechauns is a luck based board game that will keep you on you on your toes and make sure the good times keep coming! You play as one of eight leprechauns on their right of passage to the human world only to have your precious gold stolen by the evil lumber jack Wicked Dan!

Your goal is to reach his clearing first and defeat the wicked lumber jack and reclaiming your gold! Become a true leprechaun and keep all the other gold to yourself proving once and for all you have completed your right of passage!

With video games being the most played type of game as of late board games are slowly becoming a thing of the past. With many board games such as Monopoly and Sorry only being able to sell theme type versions of their games shows just how bad the industry is doing as of late.

This decline of board games is mainly based on the low frequency of new games appear on the shelves that compared to video games where there is always something new coming out or something new to try. That is why I believe that new board games being released will help bring back the board game fun times.

A game like Luck of the Leprechauns where you have to break the normal by having to have physical interaction with other players makes it stand out from video games by letting players interact with each other in different ways.

This will help in the long run for not just this game but for other board games out there as an example to try and get people to put down their controllers even just for a thirty to hour and thirty minute board game.

Your support matters because you are helping bring back the board game fun that generations past have had as well as show that board games can still be fun.

With so many board games out there not even getting a second glance more and more of them are coming off the shelves only leaving the staple board games which almost everyone has played.

Something new and exciting like Luck of The Leprechauns on the shelf will cause people to take a second glance and not just for this game but for some of the other fun board games that have been getting no attention.

3-8 players can play at one time. On each Players turn they roll two dice: one six-sided numbered and one two colored six-sided die with the colors green and gold. After the player rolls both dice they pick up a card from the either the gold or the green deck depending on what the color die shows (green or gold).

The cards have different effects from moving you forwards or backwards, switching places on the board or effecting the number of shamrocks in your possession. The effect of the card is used before the number of spaces moved on the board shown by the six-sided number die.

There are special spaces on the board that go into effect when you land on them on your turn such as roll again or draw a shamrock card.

Shamrock cards are used to open special portals on the board but they also have abilities or misfortune effects. Shamrocks abilities can do good effects such has let you steal other players cards or swap two other players on the board. Misfortunes on the other hand are negative effects such as hug a player when you roll a four or sing a five second song at the beginning of everyone of your turns! Shamrock abilities may be used at any time however misfortune abilities can only be discarded by using them to open a portal or have a card discard them for you!

(A slow dance dare)

Players win by reaching Wicked Dan and defeating him by rolling a gold on the colored die and 1,3 or 6 on the numbered die! If you fail you are sent to the checkpoint space which is located only a few spaces away but this gives other players the chance to catch up!

The game has a very heavy influence from the luck of the draw meaning that if you draw the right cards you can be far in the lead but one wrong card can put you at the back of the leprechaun pack!

The tell you the truth I was inspired by the very thing that made me want to make a board game against it which is Mario Party. I love the way the game flows with their mini-games with consequences and rewards for different luck based rolls.

I tried to emulate some of the luck based events as well as some of the fun the characters have in the game but with real life people! Hugging, singing and dancing just does not feel the same when some video game character does it for you.

  • 1-two colored six sided die
  • 1- standard six sided die
  • 1 game board
  • 8 character tokens of different colors
  • 1 set of rules
  • 28 gold cards
  • 30 green cards
  • 31 shamrock cards

Stretch Goals

$11,500 - Create more glossy looking a picture bearing rules. Will make them pop out better with pictures and more fun looking vivid colors.

$15,000 - More glossy and vivid color cards. These will look better from a distance and give the game that extra 10% for a 110% feel.

$20,000 - More distinguished character tokens as well as dice. Each piece will look different with a distinct look and feel. The dice will be more glossy with the color die having more vivid color making the rolls look prettier than ever!

Risks and challenges

This our first kickstarter and that is definitely a major challenge. It is risky putting this out there because board game market is not as successful as the video game market however we believe that our concept of our game will help it greatly overcome this hurdle. Even after the ups and downs of dealing with outside printing companies, it's your support that makes this all worth while.
