Heroes Rising is an epic Heroes of the Storm tournament series made by you, the players and fans of Heroes of the Storm. With the recent end of BlizzCon, this new season brings a host of possibility. Now that future is firmly in your hands.
We're working with the community to make this event happen! eSports Arena is putting in a lot of man hours, as well as funding various things such as the casters, staffing for the event, venue fees, broadcasting production, and much more. Sponsors are also helping to fund a base prize pool of $10,000 which will have the opportunity to grow via your backer donations!
The teams that are invited: Cloud9, TempoStorm, COGnitive Gaming, Murloc Geniuses and Panda Global (previously Kappa Wolves)!
And congratulations to our 5 qualifying teams:
These 10 teams will compete for a portion for the $10,000+ prize pool! The brackets can be viewed here.
Why did we choose to crowdfund this event?
eSports Arena has hosted large tournaments in the past, including our $25k Hearthstone Invitational with some of the biggest names in the Hearthstone community. However, only a few sponsors are willing to put money into a largely untested title like Heroes of the Storm. But, as HotS players ourselves, we want to show the world that the Heroes of the Storm community is very active and passionate about their game! With your help, this has the potential to become much bigger than what we or the sponsors could do on our own.
Traditionally, the community has been at the mercy of companies (whether they be developers or sponsors) when it comes to producing a huge, high-production value event like this, but that’s all about to change. This is your time, your event, and your game. So let’s make eSports history.
How will my backer donations be spent?
100% of what you fund will go towards making this event happen. The first $5,000 will go directly towards bringing out some of the top Heroes of the Storm Teams: Cloud9 and TempoStorm
After we meet the $5,000 funded goal, distribution of backer donations is as follows:
As long as we reach our goal of $5,000, the tournament will have a base prize pool of $10,000!!! But we can do better. Watch the prize pool grow past $5,000 backer donations!
The main tournament and all of the qualifiers will be casted and broadcasted live on Twitch.tv/eSportsArena. If the $7,000 stretch goal is reached, we will also have a secondary stream for off-stage matches on Twitch.tv/eSportsArenaTV! (DONE!)
Heroes Rising will take place January 9th-10th at eSports Arena in Santa Ana, CA!
Announcing our casters: Gillyweed and Zoia!!!

One of our dreams at eSports Arena was to create community events like this one. To us, that means that this crowdfunded event will have an unparalleled level of engagement with its players and viewers. This tournament will have open qualifiers, which means anyone will have a chance at competing amongst the best teams like the World Champions, Cloud 9. On top of that, we have included rewards for our backers that encourages community engagement, like shout-outs, submitted vines, and even one where the casters will write a haiku for you!!!
Remember, 70% of your backer donations past $5,000 goes straight to the prize pool. On top of this, we want to include some fun stretch goals for the community to shoot for!

Risks and challenges
This is a huge, huge project that we have decided to take on. There are plenty of things that could go wrong. Our internet could go down. Our T-shirt guy could decide he doesn't want to print our shirts anymore and go on a vacation to Cabo.
We just don't know.
However, we're confident that our team will be able to put on a production that everyone will enjoy. This is bigger than us. There's no room for failure. We'll do our best to make this the greatest crowdfunded event ever :)
