(Note: If you are new to this site, you might want to scroll down a bit to the section "What is Like My Thai..." but come right back here because you will want to read about our stretch goals!)
We have been absolutely stunned by the outpouring of genuine support and encouragement from all our backers!
We never thought that this project would overfund by such a large amount. This will enable us to vastly improve the quality of the furnishings and the equipment in our new restaurant over what we had planned originally.
But we want to do more. We have a week left and we know that there are two things that everyone has been asking us for: Outside/patio-style dining and delivery service.
So those are our "stretch goals".
$15,000 - If we hit $15,000, we will be able to offer comfortable outside dining so that you can enjoy your dinner with your friends in the fresh air during the warmer months. All the places we are thinking about renting for our restaurant have space for outside dining but we did not think we would be able to afford it immediately. If we can hit $15,000, we can make that happen now!
$20,000 - Delivery service. That's right, if we can hit $20,000, we can afford to set up and run a delivery service for our food. Just think, no more hiking across town for a delicious Banh Mi sandwich or a plate of Pad Thai! We will bring it right to your door!
Back us now! Spread the word! We only have 7 days left! Help us make this real!!
It all started 8 years ago with a little thing we called Pad Thai Tuesday - an event we hosted at a pizza shop we used to own. We both love to cook, and that passion introduced us to many different flavors of food. Our specialty is South Asian and Korean cuisine.
And this is where we need your help.
We are currently a pop-up restaurant renting out space from an existing restaurant. This means we can only open about once a week for a few hours to share the dishes we love with anyone and everyone. With over fourteen years of professional cooking experience and almost a lifetime of exposure to authentic ethnic meals, we want to open our own fully-functional restaurant.
This way, we can share our love and passion for South Asian and Korean food with everyone and anyone more than just a couple hours a week. Many of our recipes are even adaptable to vegan and vegetarian diets. We are also able to accommodate gluten-free, low sugar, and most allergy-affected diets.
We really, really love South Asian and Korean food… and we want others to try it and love it, too.
Here's What A Few Of Our Customers Have To Say!
Not a problem! We want to share our passion for South Asian and Korean food with everyone!
We have specifically created a number of rewards and reward tiers (see the column on the right) for our out-of-town backers! First up is our digital cookbook. Culled from 13 years studying and cooking South Asian food, all of the recipes are our original take on classic South Asian and Korean dishes and never before published.
For those of you who really dig our cool logo, we have t-shirts and aprons to impress your friends and show your support for Like My Thai. We are also offering a ton of must-haves for any serious Asian food fan - engraved chopsticks in their own carrying case, a bag of mixed Asian candies, your very own Vietnamese coffee kit with directions and, of course, a bag of Mike's signature pulled pork spice rub.
Finally, we are offering two special sets of rewards aimed at all our backers but especially for out-of-town backers. First, we will put together everything you need (except the veggies and meat, of course) for dinner - our dinner in a box! We hand picked each item for quality and taste. You know you are getting the good stuff when you back us at these levels!
We also have some wonderful artists and craftspeople in Northwest Pennsylvania and three of them have offered some of their very best products to put in our Artist's Baskets. Back at these levels now because there are only a limited number of these rewards available!
And don't forget - at some of the reward tiers - we will come to you! That's right, if you live within 3 hours of Erie, Pennsylvania, you can back us at levels where we will drive to your house and cook for you and 4-8 of your friends (with a cooking lesson thrown in to boot)!
You're right! Enough backstory; let's get to the good stuff!

Risks and challenges
While every restaurant project has risks associated with it, we think that there are very few reasons why we cannot meet all of the rewards we are offering. We are currently operating as a pop-up restaurant and have been for a number of years. All of our food rewards will be available through that venue until we get the restaurant set up. All of the non-food rewards such as t-shirts, stickers, etc. are available locally and we have developed a network of suppliers over the years to make sure we can easily get the specialty items (such as Vietnamese coffee makers). For several of the high end rewards, we are relying on our artist friends. They, too, have been in the business of selling their art for a number of years and should be able to deliver their part of the rewards on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
