We are an independent mobile development studio of 6 incredibly devoted nerds. We finished our first game Chin Up and partnered with a great publisher to bring it to market. Dragons VS Unicorns is our baby; otherwise known as our second title. We’re the toughest critics of our work and strive to self-publish DVU in order to remain independent and accountable to each other.
Digital Harmony Games may be small, but our individual expertise and skills are complementary to the success of our products and the team. Like all bootstrapped startups, we each wear several hats.
We’ve been working on Dragons VS Unicorns for about 2.5 months. During this time, we’ve exhaustively brainstormed a solid game design, completed 70% of the art assets, built the framework, and designed all the menus, user interface, and micro-game smidgens.
Our next step is to complete a vertical slice of the game. This is essentially all parts of the game (mechanics, strategy, art, menus, sound, user interface, music, flow, and etc) in one playable level. The vertical slice is crucial for our project, as it determines the allocation of our resources—do we need more art? Sound? Do the mechanics need tweaking? It also gives us a jumping off point to design an effective marketing campaign.
After the vertical slice comes the Alpha build. At this stage in development, Dragons VS Unicorns is completely feature locked, where no new features are added in the game. The game will be 90% complete and the first phase of balancing will begin.
Following the Alpha stage will be the Betas. We will invite our Kickstarter backers to play the game and give us feedback. In the Beta phase, our goal is to ensure that all core game mechanics, currency earnings, and store items are balanced, making for an entertaining (yet challenging) experience.
Finally, we will kiss the game for good luck and submit to Apple and Android Marketplace. Now that the game is complete, we will reward ourselves with a beer and plan for the game’s expansion.

Nothing! We are big believers in the freemium model. There will be a micro-transaction store to enhance your gameplay experience, but it will cost nothing to download and play the game.
