CROSSROADS 2014 is San Francisco Cinematheque's annual film festival dedicated to recent and rediscovered artist-made works.

About this project

The fifth annual CROSSROADS Moving Image Arts Festival, produced and presented by San Francisco Cinematheque, will manifest April 3–6, 2014 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Kadist Art Foundation, and the Victoria Theatre in San Francisco’s Mission District.

Full festival line-up available here.

As a showcase for recent and rediscovered avant-garde and experimental works, CROSSROADS creates an international forum where artists can meet and share their ideas.

Over the course of four days, this film, video and performance cinema festival will feature an extensive program of new films and live projector performances by more than 30 national and international artists. Highlights include world premieres by Nathaniel Dorsky, Jeremy Moss, Mónica Savirón, Alexander Stewart, Karen Yasinsky and others as well as live performances by Elise Baldwin, MSHR and Seitz vs Gendreau.

Expenses incurred in the production of CROSSROADS include:
• filmmaker travel, accommodations and honoraria
• film rentals
• venue and equipment rental
• festival promotions
• events technical staff
• festival catalogue production

Lovers of radical cinema worldwide! The first four years of CROSSROADS were tremendously successful. Help us fulfill our mission by contributing to our Kickstarter campaign, and celebrate our fifth year with us!

Books! Videos! Tote bags and films can be yours for a small donation! We cannot do it without you.

All of our rewards are generous donations from artists and organizations we present each year as part of San Francisco Cinematheque's exhibition programs of film, video, and performance cinema works. Their ongoing support, and yours, means so much to us.

Trailer video by Mary Helena Clark, featuring CROSSROADS 2014 filmmakers: Karen Yasinsky, Jesse Malmed, Mónica Savirón, Alexander Stewart, April Simmons, Michael Robinson, Ben Russell + Ben Rivers, Scott Stark, Elise Baldwin, MSHR, Zach Iannazzi

Risks and challenges

We do not anticipate any risks to the project, as we are in our fifth year and have successfully completed multiple campaigns. A potential setback would be a small delay of a few weeks in distributing the rewards after we wrap up our festival. If this challenge presents itself, we will notify all backers and continue to keep you informed of our progress!
