A colorful mural on the side wall and an Art Garden in back.
A Different Path Gallery has been an on-going project since I bought the building in 2010. I took out a mortgage on my home to fund the renovations and improvements to the property which included totally gutting the interior of the first floor, unearthing the brick wall that runs the length of the west wall in the art gallery, putting in new flooring, renovation of the facade to bring it back to it's historical roots, and dividing the 2nd floor space into artist studios. Although the interior is taking shape, the exterior back and side of the building need to be in sinc with the artistic nature of the interior.
The mural will add some much needed color and light to the side wall. I designed and colored a template for the mural last year which can be drawn on the wall block by block and painted almost like a coloring book once the image is transferred to the building. Paint for this project will run around $250.
The Art Garden will beautify and add interest to the "canal side" of the building. During the summer these elements are visible to boaters, bikers and hikers and add to the charm of our historic village. Materials and labor to get the garden started
will cost approx. $300.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Weather is the biggest challenge and obstacle to this 2-part outdoor project. Although some things can be done in inclement weather, others (like painting a mural) cannot. Although this could potentially delay certain elements of the project, most of the work can be done inbetween rain and excessive heat.
