About this project
We have reached our $10,000 goal so the project is on! We had no idea that we would meet our goal so quickly, and we are completely humbled by the support we've received.
We have a whole week of fundraising left!!!
Up until this point, we have only ever dreamed of hiring a publicist. A publicist would help us to write press releases, contact newspapers and radio stations, and help us license our music- all of the things that are needed to make an album successful. If we raise, $11,500, our recording and production costs will be completely covered. If we make it to $13,000, we will have the funds needed to get started with publicity.
Thank you thank you thank you to all of our current backers! We are completely over the moon and so grateful for your support. We couldn't have done this without you. Please continue to spread the word in the same amazing way you already have.
This is what's up.
For the first time in Duck and Goose history, we are recording a full-length album. It will include three-years-worth of some of the best music we’ve ever made. What’s more, we’re working with a Gold-Record winning producer and a member of the band Wilco. We’ve spent a long time thinking about and planning for this project, and it will truly be our best work to date. We could not be more excited about it, and YOU, dear friend, can make it happen.
We are so fortunate to be working with Sean O'Keefe, a highly-acclaimed producer and all-around great guy. We were first drawn to Sean because of his award-winning work on the Plain White T's 'Hey There, Delilah,' which elevated a simple, acoustic song to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list using minimal but crucial production. Sean fully understands our desire to preserve the simplicity of our aesthetic while elevating the music to its highest potential. Frankly, he is the bomb. He is truly top-notch, and we trust his ear and judgement immensely. With our inspiration and his guidance, this album will be a heightened and polished version of the music into which we've put our heart and soul.
It has just been confirmed that also working with us on this project will be Pat Sansone of the band WILCO. We can hardly believe it ourselves!! He's an extremely talented and experienced musician, and we are truly lucky to have this opportunity to work with him.
We want you to be a part of this! We have gotten this far because of fans and friends like you. You are truly the backbone of all of our accomplishments, and by contributing to this campaign, you will propel us into a new level of artistry. What’s more, you will be supporting independent music. That's a good thing! For you, for us, for music, it's win-win-win. Our rewards have been tailored with you in mind. Each one will express our sincere gratitude for your support. Every level of contribution is important!
We are proud of our songs. We are proud when fans get excited about this long-time-coming album. We are proud of the work we've put into planning it. This will be Duck and Goose at our finest, and we're giving it everything we've got. You have the power to bring this album into the world. Like a mom!
We are asking for $10,000 because it is the minimum we need to record an album of this caliber. In reality, it won't completely cover the costs, but it will bring us most of the way there. Anything we raise above the initial costs will go toward marketing and promotion, which will help our music shine into the world!
Here is a breakdown of our costs:
$1500- Mass production (Duplication)
$1000- Kickstarter/ Amazon fees
$350- Copyright fees
$800- Artwork (with a lovely local artist!)
Duck and Goose in Video:
One of the things that distinguishes us as a band is our live performance. As we often say, our favorite way to perform is in someone's living room, unplugged. The best way to experience this (short of having us perform in your house- check out the rewards!) is through our videos. Below is a sampling we have released over the years. (All video/audio credits in the following, as well as our pitch video above, go to the unbelievably handsome, Zack Whittington.)
Our first video, recorded three years ago:
Our first video in color, shot in one take as the sun set over Winnemac Park:

Risks and challenges
We are committed to making music that makes us happy. This takes time, and we believe we've factored in enough for the creative process to take its course. That being said, unforeseen events that slow progress can arise in any project. You will be the first to know if we encounter any speed bumps along the way.
By backing this album, you're becoming part of the process. We'll be including you with progress updates, photos, videos, and maybe a joke or two. You'll be more in the loop than Tucan Sam. Or State and Lake. Which joke is funnier?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
