Annabelle & Aiden is a children's book series (and, dare we say, movement?) dedicated to inspiring a new generation of scientists, thinkers, and all-around adventurers. Our books are tailored to foster curiosity, wonder, critical thinking skills, and inspiration on the line where science and philosophy meet.
Annabelle is curious. Which makes Aiden furious. But together, with the help of their animal (and less-than-animal) friends, they discover the wonders of the universe as they try to answer questions often thought to be 'too big' for children.
One can now PRE-ORDER a signed copy of the third book of the Annabelle & Aiden science book series for children, entitled Worlds Within Us. Help us make this book happen!
Join Annabelle & Aiden for their most epic journey yet! While gazing at the night sky, Annabelle asks Aiden how the universe began. Their new friend Tardigrade Tom answers the children by taking them on a wild adventure through the beginning of space and time: they marvel at the big bang, and learn how each and every one of us is (literally) made of stardust. Perhaps more importantly, young readers will learn how we each hold a part of the universe inside us, and are far more special, interconnected, and 'larger' than we may think.
The manuscript, (currently-developing) illustrations, and footnotes (for parents) have already been praised by the scientific and parenting communities.
Our first book, The Story Of Life, an evolution story, raised over $4,400 on Kickstarter and moved on to become a bestseller on Amazon.
Our second book Oh, The Things We Believed! fostered critical thinking skills in children in a fun, whimsical way (as the children's dinosaur friend the Skeptisuraus explored old myths from flat-earth to wizards and oracles). It raised over $11,000 on Kickstarter and also moved on to become a bestseller on Amazon.
As before, we intend to reach out to our ever-growing Facebook presence, and fans worldwide, to help us fund this project to fruition.
We'll be using the same illustrator, Max Rambaldi, whose beautiful works graced our first two books:
Help us make this book- we need your support. Support science literacy; it's needed now more than ever!
Risks and challenges
We understand there are risks and challenges inherent in any Kickstarter campaign, but are confident we will overcome them even more that we did with our first two books. (Yup, we've done this before).
All proceeds will go towards these expenses:
-Illustration, Cover Design: $1,500
-Printing: About $5 per copy ($500 per 100 copies)
-Shipping: About $2 per copy
-Initial, basic business affairs, copyright, etc: $300-$400
-(Possible) Promotion: $100
Where are we now? The text and page layout of the book has been completed for quite some time. The illustrator is currently working on the illustrations, and she has already completed the first 10 pages of the 26 page book. She should be finished the whole book around October 2017, as which point the book will go to production, and will be available just a few weeks later.
