About this project
I recently moved to NYC and have been in the good graces to make my living as a performing musician in this city. I have been very inspired as of late to document some of the fantastic musical experiences I have been having. The costs here, for better or worse, are very high and unfortunately I do not make enough of an income to pay all the parties involved what a record company would pay them, or even better, what they deserve to get paid for their efforts. This project lends the opportunity to pay the appropriate parties involved as well as supply the donors with a copy of what they supported. How could one go wrong?
The band I will be playing with is drummer Jon Wert, guitarist Justin Wert (no relation), and bassist Chris Nolte. For those of you who know me as a hard worker I can assure you that these guys share the same ethic about music that I do if not more so. They are also as of high character as they are musicianship- I am thankful that I know them!
The music to be recorded are originals from me and possibly some from other members of the band. By recording and performing original music, we are granted the satisfaction of being able to create something that is truly our own. Having these songs recorded professionally is also a springboard for booking and self promotion. It goes a long way.
Jeff Hanley, a fellow musician and recording engineer on this project lives about 10 blocks from where I do here in Astoria, Queens. Toward the end of 2011, some friends and I got together to record some music that we had been rehearsing- I was amazed and delighted when I listened back to how great the recording quality was. For a sample of Jeff's handywork or "Hanleywork" (lol), you can hear some of these recordings here on the music part of my webpage. Once I realized how good this could sound at a relatively low cost, the creativity was flowing and I immediately began writing my own songs.
Since graduating the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 2004 I have yet to release an album of my original music. I have multiple reasons for this but the main one was because I wanted to have a product that I believed in. I am finally at this point in my career and feel very excited to share my musical aesthetic with the world and I hope that you are delighted with what you hear!
Thanks for all the love and support through the years :)
