About

I am so excited to tell you about Alex! He is my 13 year old son, and one heck of young man!!! He has been dreaming of playing football for a long time. I'm hoping to make it a reality for him. He has been working extremely hard this summer, by practicing and going to weights camp. He can squat over 160 lbs!! And that's not to mention how good he can throw the football. Sorry, i'm very proud of him. This summer, he has been eating right, practicing his throwing skills, and working out in the gym. Later this month, he will go to football camp, where he will learn the in's and out's of football. He is SO looking forward to that. That is the time that he will get his jersey and helmet. Needless to say, he's VERY excited. I want this so much for him. I have been truly blessed as a mother to see him grow this much. I know he will do very great things in his life. He is a extremely courteous and caring person. And no, I'm not just saying that because I am his mother. I have talked with his teachers and other people in the community. I have heard such good things, and that makes me feel great. He knows that this is a big opportunity to do something with his life, and he's not taking it for granted. His grades were okay this last year. He had received two D's, but he had 'earned' them., LOL...He brought all of his grades up before the end of the year. I told him from the start that if his grades weren't good, there will be no sports. There will be no foolishness such as getting into trouble, or causing any. If that were to happen, football goes bye-bye. When Alex and I went to football sign-ups two weeks ago, it caused some concern. When he walked up to the coach and told him he was there for tryouts, the coach did a double take. He then had some trouble getting his words together...He asked my son if he was a sophmore or a junior...My son is going into the 8th grade! He's already 5 foot 10 inches, bare foot. And he is lean and toned. I am officially the shortest person in our household. The kicker is he's not done growing yet!! He already is in a mens size 12 shoe. YIKES!! Excelsior Springs has had a wonderful football program for many years. I am truly hoping to have him get his start now, rather than wait another year or two. There are three main reasons why I am starting this campaign for Alex: First, I am not physically able to work, and 2nd, my hubby is just now returning to work..and last but now least, Alex deserves to have this opportunity. He is such a great kid. He has dreamed about becoming a professional athlete, and I know he can do it..if given the chance.

Risks and challenges

If Alex doesn't raise the necessary funds, he will basically not be able to be on the team. It costs money for the physical, uniforms, cleats and such.. And if for some reason the money isn't raised, this will be a very long year for him.
