Success, again! You guys are awesome!!! The Motion Comic has already been put into, ahem, motion. I will make it available for download to ALL pledgers as soon as it is ready. That will likely be several weeks away.
It's a bit of a long shot, as we only have a day to go, but if we can get to $4,500, I will also produce a one-minute "cartoon." That would be pretty sweet!
Success! We passed $2,500 this morning. That means...
your pledge of $25 or more now includes a MONSTER NINJAS T-SHIRT!
Please keep the pledges coming. At $3,000, I will be producing a MOTION COMIC of issue #1!!!!!
Just a really quick update: I wanted to share Shane's zombie warm-up sketch. For the fun of it, he made himself and me into zombies! (You can be one too... hint, hint.)
I have nothing but EXCITEMENT to share! First, I have been contacted by a cartoon developer who wants to pitch Monster Ninjas as a... wait for it... cartoon! It's all very preliminary, so let's not get (too) excited. But that is pretty cool, right?
Second, how would you like a FREE MONSTER NINJAS T-SHIRT?
If we make it to $2,500, everyone with a pledge of $25 or more is getting one!
Wow, we made it! Thank you so much for your support. If we can get to $2,000, I am going to have a book trailer made. So please help if you can.
In order to entice you, please allow me to show you these:
1.) A sample of a $49 character sketch
2.) A sample of a $79 inked character (it is still a pencil, so you have to imagine the inks.)
Pretty cool, huh?
Hi, I’m Ryan. I read my first comic book 30-some years ago, and I’ve had an itch to scratch ever since. So, this is me, scratching that itch. I’m a writer from a small Minnesota town you’ve probably never heard of, and you’ll be my new best friend if you help me complete issue #3 of the amazing webcomic that was, well, 30-some years in the making.
Monster Ninjas is Bone meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as four ninjas (who also happen to be monsters) fight amongst each other and against the forces of evil, with hilarious and sometimes surprising results.
Issues #1 and #2 are written, and the pages are inked and colored. (A shout out to illustrator Shane Nitzsche and colorist Erik Korsgaard!) The webcomic is now up and running at www.MonsterNinjas.com. Now, if I could just cover the costs of getting #3 illustrated and colored, I could post more than one page per week. Hmm . . .
You Can Help!
The way Kickstarter works is brilliantly simple. You pledge an amount toward my fundraising goal by clicking the “Back this Project” button in the upper right corner of this page. After that, one of two things will happen:
- A.) I achieve my fundraising goal by July 15. You get charged—and you get my eternal gratitude and some cool incentive(s) as described at right. Plus, you can tell everyone that we’re best friends.
- B.) I do not achieve my fundraising goal, and nothing happens. You are not charged. You don’t get any cool incentives. But, hey, I’ll still give you my gratitude, and we can still be best friends, if you want.
Let’s not worry too much about option B, though. I am confident we can do this! So please take a look at the incentives, find a deal that sounds good to you, and pledge.
What Are the Rewards
What’s the Money For?
The money will be used as payment to the illustrator and colorist (Shane and Erik). It isn’t exactly enough, but no worries: I have enough saved up that I can cover the rest.
What if I Raise Even More?
I’ll put that money to good use: Most of the overage money will go toward marketing Monster Ninjas—anything from web banners to a blog tour. The rest will go toward artwork for follow-up Monster Ninjas stories. And if we raise lots and lots more, um, maybe action figures?!
The fact that you’re here means you at least stopped to take a look, and I sincerely thank you for it. If you choose to pledge, well, I thank you even more!
