Hi there! My name is Bob Naismith. This Kickstarter is about the Overrunners - a range of 28-30 mm Resin sci fi soldiers and their vehicles. They can find a place on your gaming table or collectors shelf anytime as either the good guys or the bad guys! I have been working as a freelance sculptor mainly in the Sci fi and Fantasy wargaming business for more than thirty five years. It's likely that you may have some of my work in your collection already even if you don't know it! Having really enjoyed working with world class manufacturers on an ongoing basis I wanted to release some of my own designs for sci fi into our market. I have seen what the Kickstarter community can do for new projects and have now decided that its time for me to bring my own dreams to life with your help - My plan is that if this Kickstarter is successful then I'll be making more ranges of figures that expand upon this first set - so keep watching!
Risks and challenges
This is my first project on KS so I am aware that there are going to be hurdles that I will have to overcome (or should that be overrun?)
While I feel confident about the sculpts themselves my new journey will be into the world of production. In the past I have liaised with several production companies and have been happy to help resolve any problems in manufacturing that have arisen. Along the way I think I have gained a feel for the kind of things that can throw you. It is hard to account for everything that might cause trouble but here are a few that I have identified as potential hurdles:
using outside producers
It is my plan to use outside producers to print the figures, make production moulds and cast them up in resin. I have worked with people in all of these fields of expertise in the past and I am confident that they have the ability to come up with the goods as I know the high standards of work they have produced for other people.
However if the campaign is much more successful than I planned for then I will have to consider alternative arrangements as my suppliers
themselves may have their own capacity issues!
carriage and exporting
This again is at the edge of my skillset! I anticipate that the carriage costs and checking that all customs and taxes are settled is a vital part of the KS process. in the end we all want efficient dispatch and receipt of the figures.
I have looked at several successful Kickstarters and with this in mind I have chosen to make my first KS available in Europe, the USA,Canada,Australia and New Zealand only. If the whole thing is just great then I am sure that there will be a way post Kickstarter to make the figures available to anyone who wants them
