Movie Buff really came to life sitting around the cafe at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at University of Maryland, College Park. There were always lulls between classes, and the theatre majors would all gather to hang out and kill time. We started playing the game with just Actors and Movies, going around the table, or wherever we were. The game was simple, start with an actor, the next person had to name a movie that actor had been in. The next player had to name another actor from that movie, and so on like the classic game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, only our goal was to never stop connecting. We spent a lot of time playing and from that time I began thinking of how to make this game accessible to anyone who wanted to play.
The inception of that idea has given birth to the completed design of the game presented today. With virtually no restrictions on the number of players to play the game, you leave yourself with endless possibilities and outcomes. The video explains in better detail the full concept of game play.

So why Kickstarter?
By raising funds via pledges through Kickstarter, it will allow the game the capital needed to see the light of day. Production, printing, branding, distribution, and licensing, unfortunately, all have their inherent associated costs...which has previously been a roadblock to realizing this dream of mine. Until now. This is where you come in. I often think of George Bailey at the end of It's A Wonderful Life. Alone, each of his neighbors could not save him, but together, they proved greater than old man Potter could imagine.
So, I'm giving myself 45 days to raise awareness and pledges to realize this dream of mine. If within those 45 days I've received enough pledges for Movie Buff to take off, I'll see it through and you'll be able to say you helped make it happen. If I fall short of my goal within those 45 days, it's back to the drawing board for me! Please, dear friends, I've been at the drawing board for 10 years now; help me reach my goal!
Risks and challenges
This is my first Kickstarter campaign so it is a learning experience. My goal is to get Movie Buff to our backers by the end of October. This doesn't give us much time to spare, but I don't expect any delays in production. Manufacturing or shipping issues that are out of my control may arise, but that is the risk with any game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
