One-hundred and one. A truly horrid, unEveN number.
"Very solemn greetings,
My name is Robert Burgess and I have been compelled to write about Pinpricks. Since I have many reservations, I will speak of the facts and little else. It is HARDCOVER with 128 pages and contains some the most troubling tales I have ever read with so few lines.
What started as a writing and art exercise for Jason Pell, grew into a troubling creature of its own nature. Drawing inspiration from the horror stories he had read as a youth, he hopes to infect a new generation, and possibly RE-infect the older ones.
The book itself is sized at 5 x 7.5 so it can easily be misplaced and forgotten...or hidden. I'm not sure it will be flammable, but that is something that can be tested at a later date if need be. All physical copies will be marred by the creator's signature.
...still here? Fine, let us soldier through this as quickly as possible.
The stories range from scary, humorous, and sometimes, maybe too rarely, a little hopeful. My personal favorite was probably the last one. Yes, it was skillfully written and illustrated, but more importantly, it was the last. I thought, with that, I could move on. But...it has not been that easy.
The creator, Jason Pell has been a (dis)credited indie artist and graphic novelist for many years. His most infamous creations being Zombie Highway, Suicide Five, and Season's End. Each of these are offered in the (rewards?) section if curiousity overtakes reason.
Looking for someone else to blame for this tome? John MacLeod edited the whole mess. He is mostly (un)known for his work with the Strange Kids Club web site, Blood & Gourd comics, and (clearly) for picking dubious projects to edit.
"This is a book that reminds you that you are weird. That we are all weird, in some way or another."
"Zombie Highway is a thrill-ride of a book and a refreshing take on the zombie genre!'
"...there is a genuine strength to its message and flawless presentation that marks the work as a miss-it-and-I-will-mess-you-the-hell-up sort of manner." *Referencing Suicide 5
"A perfect gift for someone you wish grave weather upon."
Well, my duties have been fulfilled. I have kept my word to both parties. I have elaborated on Pinpricks and have not spoken any lies.
If you choose to continue, to back this book, I wish you well.
And leave you my sincerest sympathies."
Stretch Goals UNLOCKED!
Everyone that has chosen a physical copy of the book will receive a 5x7 signed print from Jason Pell. The choice will be yours.
Do you like a mystery? You certainly must! Once the goal reaches $7,501, a mysterious little item will be shipped with the book. A (cursed?) knickknack that will relate directly to one of the stories held within Pinpricks.
Risks and challenges
Risks. I feel that has been covered at this point, yet still, here you are.
The book is finished. The printers have been contacted and are awaiting the files. Barring a natural or unnatural disaster, Pinpricks is coming.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
