Be the CEO of one of 5 corporations competing to set up mining operations in the asteroid belt. Demands for resources are at a record high. Corporations fueled by their desire for wealth and power race for the chance to be the supplier. In 7 years the rest of Earth's corporations will have caught up and the ridiculous prices for these precious materials will start to drop. Be the corporation that profits the most and show the galaxy who is the best.
Asteroid Miner is a board game in which players are the CEO of one of the first corporations to make mining the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter profitable. Players play for a maximum of 6 rounds, which represent a year in space. Each round players must pick a special subcontractor card which gives special powers for the rest of the round. During the round players must choose where to send their crews: mine, blast, shop, pick up contracts, etc.

Points are scored by completing contracts; players must accumulate the resources requested by a contract shuttle card and send those resources back to earth.
Mining types are represented on the players' corporation card. Each type can mine 2-3 types of resources from the asteroid belt. These are cumulative; the more mining a player has the more they can mine from an asteroid at a time. Asteroids can only provide 1 or 2 types of limited resources. Players must choose what type of mining to buy and when to upgrade.

We haven't priced out our stretch goals yet, but we have ideas for what we want to do...
$??k - More Diverse Asteroids!
More types of asteroids, with the different elements actually incorporated into their designs. We're talking "water" asteroids with actual ice crystals jutting out of them ("dead" comets), "radioactive" asteroids with, like, glowing craters or veins or whatnot. Once we price it out with our artist, we'll have him give you a better description of what to expect.
$??k - Expansion!
We'll release an expansion at the same time as the base game. These will be cards-only expansions at a low price point, that will be made available to everyone at release, and to backers at a discount. If we're successful enough to fund an expansion at release, it's not a matter of coming up with new ideas - it's just a matter of narrowing down which extra ideas we want to implement first.
$??k - The Sixth Man
We'll add a sixth player board, and the components to support it, to the base game. Five players is a game - six is a party! (Seven is just ridiculous - don't be silly.)
$??k - (Another) Expansion!
We'll release another expansion concurrently with the base game. Yes, we have this many ideas! Yes, it will be more work! But if there is this much interest in the game then we will be excited to be able to support it.
$??k - More?
We're not sure! We're shooting pretty high as it is, and we haven't really dared to dream quite this large... yet.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risks that we face are production set backs. We have plenty of support from our manufacturer and a very straight forward time table to follow to get through the production process.
One of the challenges we have had to work with is the minimum required units for our order. Because of this we have to have a much larger goal then what we wanted but we think that our game is worth it.
Should any problems arise we have plenty of time to address them and get back on schedule.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
