A world in RUINS. Isolation. Destruction. DEATH. You do whatever you can to survive. Welcome to 2050. Half the world population, gone. Ten years after the forced EVOLUTION of man heralded a massive world war, Samantha’s fight is just beginning. Searching for herself across the wastelands, on the run from an oppressive government and creatures left behind as reminders of the massacre, she must choose between running forever as host of a power she never wanted or fighting for what’s right and very possibly meet her DEMISE. With humankind on the balance, what will she do? With stakes so high. Paths so perilous. Enemies at every turn. Catch the danger, the intrigue, the eminent destruction. The revolution is a WAVE.
My name, Alfred. Alfred Trujillo and I am the creator, writer and artist of Project: Shadows. Pleasure to come across your screen! I am originally from a southern state in Mexico. One most can't pronounce. As merchants, my family traveled all across the country throughout my childhood. One of the good things about being on the road a large portion of life was a pretty good supply of comic books and the time to get immersed in them. Even then, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. So here I am, decades later after having spent the last couple years building my craft, working in the comic book industry, I am trying to put my childhood dream in motion. I have founded my own comic book studio, quit my day job and made my debut issue of my very ambitious first creator owned comic.
This is where YOU come in.
I am aiming to not only make the next issues of action, intrigue, philosophy and purpose, something extraordinary, but get it to the public in mass form.
Through comic book stores. Through conventions. Through the internet.
My aim is at least 2500+ copies of each issue out to new readers, but this will require some initial start-up. I will also put this in front of every publisher that will look at it. Go big or go home!
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
One of the drawbacks of working for yourself is that income is not exactly steady. Dips in cash require that you put pencil-for-hire stuff ahead of the project, taking longer to get issues out. Last year the book was promoted in 16 conventions across the country and we want to expand on that this year.
My goal is to have Project: Shadows distributed monthly through Diamond, and make the kind of money that allows me to live off the book and convention promotions. In order to do that, I need help from you to get through issue 3. At that point I should be able to get it out to the majority of comic book stores in the US on a regular basis. This would also allow easier payment for colors and additional art for portions of the books. Most importantly, it would allocate funds for printing and shipping of the books to me to be done without going on a 100% ramen diet and selling my organs on the black market. In return for your help, I am offering some very nice incentives:
The book, exclusives, sketch art, original pencils, prints, etc.. All of these will be incredible additions to your comic art and book collections. Not to mention some very special stuff from our talented and beautiful second writer, Cara Nicole, aka AZ Powergirl to be revealed at the half way point towards funding!
THE NUTS AND BOLTS
The main idea behind Project: Shadows is a lesson that seems to keep getting forgotten throughout history, which is that: evil triumphs when good people do nothing. With this in mind the objective of Project: Shadows is to get people to see that they do, in fact, make a difference and have an impact in the world. I want to take this story, inspire people, get them involved, standing up for what is right and for what they are passionate about. Lofty, I know, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
I have worked in comics for a couple years. Not exactly a newcomer. My work has been in Zenescope's Reanimator: Herbert West Chronicles, Grimm Fairy Tales, Wonderland, Myths and Legends and other titles. I have also worked for Big Dog Ink, Chameleon Productions, Moonstone as well as numerous independent projects. I have built my studio from the ground up and am at every convention that I can physically make it out to. You may have seen me at last year's Amazing Arizona, Emerald City, Phoenix, Saboten, Denver, San Diego, Baltimore, El Paso, Las Vegas, New York, Tucson, Albuquerque and soon Amazing Arizona Comicon...again and Galaxy Fest in Colorado Springs. If you see me, say hi! (If you see Cara, say BINGO. She likes it)
Cara Nicole aka AZ Powergirl is an up and coming writer in addition to being the hardest working overnight convention sensation. She has done character design for the book, writes prose to supplement the story and cosplays characters from the Project: Shadows universe at shows. She has worked for Marvel and works more conventions than most people do in a lifetime. More than me!
Mr. Parvanov hailing from Phoenix Arizona via Bulgaria, has colored for Wildstorm Comics, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, as well as many well known video game companies including, Capcom, Blizzard, Gear Box Software and THQ. Milen is also an amazing comic creator with original projects of his own and is a philosopher of sorts.
The legendary Brian Augustyn is the godfather of steampunk and sort of a big deal. He was a long time editor at DC comics, created Gotham by Gaslight, wrote The Flash and had a smash hit with Image Comics on his creator owned Crimson. He also champions his local comic book community and produced an online show called The Comic Book Insider.

Risks and challenges
One of the biggest risks of this project will be the matter of getting it done in a timely manner and how we will overcome this is by working on it as much as possible before it funds or even goes live. Issue 1 is already done and ready to print and the scripts for issues 2-3 are completed and have art started.
Disclaimer: The original goal was for issues 1-3. Since the stretch goals and funding have allowed us to go through the trade (all 6 issues) some of the dates are inaccurate. Issues beyond #3 and the trade will be out as soon as possible. We project that everything will be fulfilled by the end of the year. We will do this as timely as we can but please take into consideration printing and shipping times on the trades as well as drawing time inside of them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
