Checking in here from GenQ
Hi everyone! We've been silent on your end because we've been desperately pulling together the pieces of what will become our debut issue for Quilt Market, and that's because of you all!
We've been writing article, shooting pics, creating page layouts, editing, editing and editing some more. And that's just the production end of things.
Jake has turned into a bonafide ad rep, something she never thought she'd be able to do. But offering promotional space to reach a shared audience through a magazine she believes in and loves completely makes its surprisingly easy.
Megan has revealed yet another title, Graphic Artist Goddess, and if we didn't love her so damn much, it'd be easy to hate one person for having so much talent.
Melissa is wrestling with schedules, fielding copy, back-patting Jake and Company, editing like crazy and snarking up some really fun copy. No one turns a phrase like Melissa does!
And Scott, dear Scott, who has been promoting us and connecting us to our q-niverse with great flair and class. He brings in the projects and quilts we feature, sweet-talking (and that's the only way Scott ever talks, BTW) his way into the studios of some incredibly gifted designers who becomes wonderful friends for it.
We've got the pieces of the booth coming together and we're fielding the needs of our distributor to get issue two on the newsstands, as promised. The work seems never-ending, and we're all pushing hard, but it's so much fun it's never a complaint. Even our families are hanging in there with us, pushing and supporting us like crazy, even when dishes don't get done, kids have to be a little more patient and spouses take on more chores. And every day, there's another step that's completed, and another kind or encouraging message that comes our way and we know we're gonna make all of our deadlines. Mostly, we know that we've got a great first issue waiting for you all to enjoy!
So, keep hanging in there with us. When we return from Market at the end of the month, we'll be reaching out for addresses and information so we can clear out Jake's hallway of all of these goodies and get them into your hands. We'll have our issues in hand by then and those will go out as well. And for those of you who know just how bad Jake is at getting things mailed out, have faith. The Mail Goddess, Melissa Z., will oversee the great Hallway Stuff Relocation Plan and make sure Jake steps up to the post office window regularly.
Thank you again and check in with us on Facebook in two weeks where you'll see updates and pics from Quilt Market.
Many quilted hugs,
Generation Q Magazine
