This debut album of original compositions for jazz orchestra will feature some of the finest players on the Colorado music scene.
This music represents several years of composing and arranging and is a longtime dream, as well as an academic project. It, in combination with a book of scores and selected analysis, will function as my dissertation for a doctor of arts in jazz studies degree I am currently pursuing at the University of Northern Colorado.
The process of recording a professional album is an expensive one. The musicians involved need to be compensated (though their pay rate for a project like this is comparatively low--most are involved for the love of playing and creating new music), recording studio and engineers need to be compensated, and there are other costs that include mixing and mastering the music, art work, photography, and printing of the cds.
Your involvement in this project at the most basic level guarantees you a copy of the final product, so you are essentially pre-paying for a copy of this cd. Additional contributions merit rewards as outlined in the rewards section of this project.
Finally, it is important to note that funding for this project will only be received if the goal of $4,000 is met, so you involvement is particularly important and greatly appreciated.
Thank you and I look forward to sharing this artistic endeavor with you.
