HTC Vive Integration

We have fully integrated the HTC Vive with the Virtualizer. Being able to use the hand controllers along with the HMD whilst in the Virtualizer adds a whole new dimension to the immersive VR experience. 

In the following video, our lead software developer, will tell you about what new elements you can expect to encounter when using the HTC Vive together with the Virtualizer.

Acan’s Call

We’ve made a little video for you to see the new version of Acan’s Call. 

In this video, you’ll see all of the newest features of Acan’s Call, together with the developments that have come out of the integration of the HTC Vive. 

The combination of the Virtualizer and HTC Vive results in a setup that eliminates the limitations of roomscale VR. Users can move through an infinite vitual space without the risk of walking into or hitting against something in the real world. 

You’ll also be able to see what the interaction between sword and virtual enemies is like.

Software Improvements

Our embedded systems engineer has improved our sensor algorithms.

We analysed differences in people’s walking movement direction and speed and the direction and speed of the individual feet with slow-motion video capture. Our aim was to try to find out, understand and compare how peoples’s differences in movement correlates with the data we receive from the sensors.

We used the knowledge that, what we measure with our sensors and how a person actually wants to move in the Virtualizer might under some circumstances not be the same, in order to find out what that person wants to do when their movements are generating particular sets of data.

This information enabled us to improve our algorithm, meaning that movement is more accurately tracked than ever before.

      Thank you for the update. I'm glad you guys are still improving the software side of things, so everyone will be happy when the device finally ships. Hopefully the search for finance continues in the background to enable you to go into full production of the virtualizer. My questions are:

      1) What is the current status for securing finance to start production?

      2) What is the estimated date for production to start?

      3) Will software developers have to use the SDK to be able to use the virtualizer in their games?

      4) Will the tracking also be able to work like a joystick or emulated xbox controller, in order to make it compatable with many existing software titles without the need for software support on the developer side?

      5) Are the "rumble" feature haptic feedback versions, simply "buttkicker" LFE devices that work off the sound output, and therefore don't require software support?

      @Joseph Lasar, I think they are showing the "Commercial" Virtualizer. I remember seeing its larger footprint and double base struts when they were taking preorders and you had to choose between personal or commercial websites.

      Great another F.U. to the backers, i dont care about your game, i care about getting my damn virtualizer. I can work my ass of to get the damn vive to work with the virtualizer, so stop fucking with us and give us the damn virtualizer.

      Good point! Working. But not producing...
      If avoiding to hit the struts with the controllers really becomes a problem (for ordinary people like you and me, and not only for gorillas), it may take some integration into the steam/vive setup process. Instead of lining out the limits of your "space" you'll then have to point to the struts. After that you'll get an alarm as soon as a controller comes close to them.

      This update means, that they improved something that they are not able to produce. Stop improving, start producing!

      Seems like it, maybe to accomodate the use of the vive controllers without hitting the pillars. But they didn't mention that even though that would be a real update.... Who really cares about making them Acans Call working with the Vive. At least at this point.

      When do we get our units? How many units have been produced? THAT'S WHAT WE NEED UPDATES ON.
      Not on some tech demo game that will never see the light of day if the product is never delivered.
