Because of all two hundred and sixteen of you, we successfully "kick-started" our Finish the Film Campaign by raising a total of $30,514 in 30 days! This is $ 5,000 beyond our original goal and comfortably beyond 200 backers! We are so grateful.
The Kickstarter campaign was incredible. Through it we were able to witness the collective power of what people can do when we believe in something together. Thanks to you and your efforts to spread the word, the pledges poured in until the very last minute.
My exchanges with many of you during the campaign were profound and striking. Your stories, comments, and shouts of support buoyed us every day in the edit room and still do. We feel your generous presence backing us all the way.
The stories you shared and the messages we continue to receive from supporters remind us continuously of what we are doing. HERE ONE DAY is not just about my mother’s story or the repercussions of her illness and death on me and our family---it is about connecting to thousands of other stories, creating a community of support, and ending the silences and stigmas that lead to unnecessary loss of life, suffering, isolation, misinformation, and lack of funding for mental illness and suicide prevention. With this film we will make the world a better place.
We hope that you will stay connected to us as we finish the film and expand the HERE ONE DAY community. We need to raise an additional $ 75,000 to finish the film so we are also always looking for new suggestions for funding. As we approach the finish line, we are also strategizing how get the film out into the world, so please share any suggestions or contacts you might have for screenings and broadcasts.
We invite you to connect with us in the following ways:
1. Sign-up to receive our monthly newsletter. I keep everyone up-to-date with highlights on our production work, fundraising activity, press, and future film premier dates.
2. Subscribe to HereOneDayBlog.com. This blog has become a living testament to the power of breaking silences and sharing our stories. It now features the incredibly brave voices of numerous men and women who have opened up about the ways mental illness and suicide have affected their lives. I also feature other projects and articles relevant to the themes explored in HERE ONE DAY.
3. Encourage others to support HERE ONE DAY. Tax-deductible donations can be made at any time through our fiscal sponsor Women Make Movies. Contributions may be sent by check made out to Women Make Movies with HERE ONE DAY in the memo field and mailed to my attention at: Kathy Leichter, 448 Riverside Drive, # 112, New York, NY 10027.
4. Host your own House Party Fundraiser for HERE ONE DAY. I just came back from a wonderfully successful fundraiser hosted by Nina Solarz and Lisa Glantz Prickettt in McLean, Virginia. We have done others in NYC, Austin, Boston, and San Francisco. These gatherings are a great way to rally support from your community, share scenes from the film, and facilitate critical discussions. Please contact me directly at Kathy@twosunsmedia.com if you are interested in learning more.
We thank you for your generous support and look forward to sending out your rewards! Shortly you will receive a backer survey from Kickstarter requesting important information such as your mailing address and if you feel comfortable sending us an image, we would love to honor any loved ones you have lost in our In Memory Of photo album.
Stay tuned and please stay in touch. We are always happy to hear from you.
With our deepest gratitude,
Kathy and the HERE ONE DAY Production Team
