Note: After listening to feedback from our backers and other Kickstarter enthusiasts, we are now happy to offer you BrilliAnts by relaunching at a reduced price, reduced goal, and better stretch goals, thus making it available to more people! The real strength of Kickstarter being its community, we want to share and realize this project with all of you! Do you want to be BrilliAnts with us?
We don't use a pledge manager. Thus, backers cannot increase their pledges or adjust shipping fees at the KS prices after the campaign ends. Future pre-orders can be made on our website.
It's the end of the season and the Ant Queens try to establish their colony in a quiet forest where food is abundant.
BrilliAnts is a flexible game for gamers and families where you take control of an ant colony to help it prepare for the coming winter! But beware, not every colony has the same needs! You must gather the resources you need to survive the winter by fulfilling headquarters’ objectives while expanding your territory and influence over the forest. Be wary of the weather and the dreaded predators as you plan your next move to lead your colony to victory.
BrilliAnts can be played by 1-6 players, ages 8+, and a game lasts roughly 15 minutes per player.
These are Factory Assembled Miniatures, about 1 inch in height, and made of plastic.
Also included in every copy are all the stretch goals we unlock during the campaign, which have already been added to the above list.
*FREE* Kickstarter Exclusives
All stretch goals unlocked! The last one was achieved 10 MINUTES before the end of the campaign! That was an amazing ride, thank you everyone for your support!
Vote for Worm Color in Update 11 !
- BrilliAnts is a game that is easy to understand, yet complex enough so to make it hard to master as multiple strategies are always opened to you.
- 4 levels of complexity in the rules enables you to adapt your game to who you're playing with, ranging from children-friendly rules to cutthroat rules for the more ruthless and competitive gamers (mirroring the world of insects)!
- An original Day/Night system regulating the movement of your ant workers (more on that system below).
IMPORTANT: We don't use a pledge manager, so make sure that all your pledges are made in full by December 12th!
If you want to add more than 1 copy to your pledge, select any "1 copy" pledge and manually add $49 per additional copy that you want. Pay shipping only once!
So, 1 copy = $49; 2 copies = $98; 3 copies = $147 (+ shipping)
Early Bird pricing is $44 per copy instead of the above $49.
A game of BrilliAnts is relatively simple to play, check out our Beta rules for more information. During your turn, 3 actions are opened to you:
- Move one of your ants
- Move a predator
- Give birth to a new ant
It's how and in which order you use them that matters. Perform these actions in accordance to your colony's objectives (known only to you), and amass the most victory points to win!
- BrilliAnts is 40% off retail price right now on Kickstarter.
- All of the colorful art (except for the incoming kickstarter exclusives) is complete, has been printed and played with, and shown to people - to great reception!
- Similarly, the game has been play-tested a lot by both us, reviewers, and lots of people at various events, and has been praised for its ease of play, colorful and appealing visuals, depth of strategy, and replayability.
- As mentioned above, the 2 kickstarter exclusive species "Runners" and "Breeders" are, well, exclusive to kickstarter and will not be available in retail (except for retailers who pledge directly on kickstarter).
- BrilliAnts is accessible to everyone due to its flexible rules featuring 4 levels of difficulty. You can adapt the game to anyone you're playing with, ranging from children ages 8+ to experienced gamers with the cutthroat rules (level 4).
- This project is US, Canada, Australia, and EU-friendly and we shoulder a part of the shipping costs ourselves (about $10 for all locations)!
Christmas is coming, and while BrilliAnts will obviously not be available physically for this Christmas, it can still be gifted to somebody, with the help of this image! Print it at home, and give BrilliAnts, in advance, as a Christmas present to a loved one! :)
"BrilliAnts contains a much more light-hearted, cartoonish feel and artwork to it than other similar games, and despite that, it hides a pretty in-depth game with a lot of strategy behind it. It has this theme that you can immediately jump into, and these visuals that grab you. I do think that this game is going to appeal to a wide variety of gamers."
"A fantastic game, it's really solid. If you like Takenoko, you're definitely gonna like this one because it has a similar feel, but at the same time, it's very different. There are so many varieties of play, of things you can take out or add, that it can be different almost every time you play. I really enjoyed it, I hope you get a chance to check it out!"

Working takes time, and when time passes, the day sets, night falls, and the weather changes! Each player can only move all of his ants once before the end of the day, and then again for the night.
To keep track of which ants have been played or not, the ant miniatures have rotating bases with holes in them, alternating between day time or night time. Keep track of which ants have played or not by referring to their Day or Night marker!
This project wouldn't have been possible without the support and work of many dedicated people.

Special Thanks to Jamey Stegmaier for all his articles about kickstarter fulfillment on his blog, located here.
Risks and challenges
The main challenge we face is that, although we received tips and tricks from veterans on boardgamegeek concerning shipping and fulfillment, this is still our first project. Thus, we are allocating a 9-months period to fully produce the game and deliver it to our backers. Any earlier delivery would be welcomed, but we are doing this to ensure that we give ourselves enough time to avoid potential setbacks.
We are working with Panda Games, a well known board game manufacturer, and hopefully this should help to alleviate the risks of undertaking a new project such as BrilliAnts. We are also aware that shipping worldwide is a very complicated process, and thus, with the help of articles by StoneMaier Games and other helpers on boardgamegeek, we will try and make it work as best as we can. Our box isn't small so that in itself will prove to be a challenge when fulfilling comes.
After all, the end goal is to bring the game to your door step, and our job is to make sure it does within the next 9 months, along with all the stretch goals. We also remain open to any suggestions or help on the matter!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
