Introducing Kid Lid's Dual Function iPhone and iPad Case w/ Kid Mode: The World's Best Case for Parents.
After we successfully funded Kid Lid—a tough, patented keyboard cover that protects laptop keys from inadvertent kiddie damage—we didn’t rest on our laurels. We know the need for amazing tech protection doesn’t stop with your laptop!
Mogolo is returning triumphantly to Kickstarter—this time, with sleek, protective iPhone and iPad cases that offer our patented Kid Mode functionality. Thanks to Kid Mode (and other cool features), these cases are unlike anything else you’ve seen on the market.
What’s Kid Mode?
Kid Mode is our patented functionality where the bottom of your new case can be removed, flipped and reattached in a way that covers your iPad or iPhone’s home button, keeping the little ones from switching out of the app you’d like to keep them in. When the home button is covered, we call this Kid Mode.

Just because you have a protective case for parents doesn’t mean it needs to look like one. We ditched the heavier, clunkier designs many companies recommend in favor of something sleek and durable that’s easy to pop in a pocket or purse. We get that these cases go everywhere with you, so we made them stylish for parents’ day-to-day use and built them strong enough to stand up to young kids.
And thanks to our close relationship with our supplier, this case will be available as early this March for shipment.
iPhone Case Design:
After sourcing and testing several materials for the iPhone case, we decided on polycarbonate for its strength and durability. We tested to make sure our factory was delivering on our promise of BPA-free and no phthalates. We designed in bolstered corners and raised lip that would provide protection from falls of up to four feet as well as protect the screen from damage without the need for a screen protector.
Polycarbonate is strong, but it can be hard (and a bit slippery), so we added micro soft-touch coating to the case that allows for better grip (for little hands too). Plus, it’s smooth enough to easily slide in and out of a pocket without snagging.
Kid Mode: Physically blocks the home button and keeps the child from switching apps, (and more surface space to hold).
Other important features of the iPhone Dual Function Case:
Raised top lip. No need for expensive invisible screen glass protectors
Bolstered corners to protect against drops, & low profile and smooth rails for easy texting.
Full direct access to all ports.
Full Screen Protection mode- allows you to completely protect the screen during periods of nonuse.
Available in two colors

Dual Function iPad Case with Kid Mode for Air 1 & 2:
It would be impossible to incorporate Kid Mode functionality into an iPhone case without doing it for the iPad. However, it's not as simple as molding the same iPhone case for an iPad. There are the obviously physical differences with the iPad being larger and perhaps more fragile. You also don't slide an iPad into your pocket.
How it's used is different too. The iPhone is essentially an activity hub for the parent for the obvious calls and typing, while the more easily accessible (and sharable) iPad can sometimes be the hub for the child. So we are sticking with the strength of the polycarbonate with the soft touch coating, but adding more material to the corners and grip points.
iPad Case Design:
To avoid building two molds for $20k (there are very slight different iPad sizes for Air 1 & Air 2), we devised a simple and fun way to protect both devices with one case. And this will take up less warehouse space and require less retail space once we hit the stores.
Bolstered corners for impact & low Profile rails designed for easier use of the screen
Full direct access to all ports
Full Screen Protection- allows you to completely protect the screen during periods of nonuse.
After a year of designing, prototyping and testing, we feel we’ve come up with the best case on the market for parents. We've filed all the necessary patents and trademarks and are ready to go into production. To do this, we'll need to raise $12,000 to handle the upfront cost of making the iPad mold and to meet minimum production levels for both cases and packaging expenses.
Production & Delivery Timeline:
"Mogol products seem innovative + smart. It's clear that the products are meeting a real guest need of Target's digitally connected families and acting as a white space solution for the ever crowded electronics accessories category. [Kid Lid] is an easy solution to a common problem." -Jessica Chung, Girls Toy Buyer, Target Corp.
"I got a review Kid Lid to review and was completely impressed. I have no idea why something like this had never been created." - Anne Herwick, Blogger, chicmamala.com

Risks and challenges
We'd like to start shipping iPhone cases by March 2016 and iPad cases by May 2016. We realize this is an aggressive schedule, however we learned a great deal from our first campaign and have terrific manufacturers involved that make our schedule a realistic estimate. If there are hitches with the first batch, we will push back shipping until the products are produced properly and will provide regular updates about our production processes.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
