Dig deeper into the mysterious and occult world of LexOccultum. Move beyond the veil of darkness and enter the domain of horrid creatures and callous monsters. This is the complete monster manual for the LexOccultum RPG game, this is Carta Monstrorum!
Help us uncover the mystery of Mr Birkenbosch’s Carta Monstrorum. Bring light to yet another building block in the secret and occult world of LexOccultum.
In year of the lord 1716, a group of slingers from the Royal Society discovered the remains of the late Dutch surveyor and geographer Clement Birkenbosch. Stories swirled around the discovery of his body, some tall, others terrifying, but as with everything Birkenbosch was involved in during his life the truth is shrouded in mystery. It is said that in his satchel they recovered various journals and half-written notes as well as more thorough and systematic examinations of the monsters of our world. Included in the find were Birkenbosch's own sketches of more than 30 vile and mysterious beasts he had encountered on his travels, including vampires, werewolves, witches and, incredibly, one of the legendary creatures of the deep, the fabled kraken. At first the Royal Society disregarded this find as as yet more fakery from the Enlightenment movement, but as they read further it was impossible to deny that that Mr Birkenbosch had gathered this information first hand from the corners of Europe and expeditions into the most dangerous territories of the Middle East. It was a truly incredible discovery. Arguments followed, of course. Some unbelievers claimed Birkenbosch was no more than a story teller, retelling the tales told to him, but the true believers insisted that his profession as surveyor was nothing more than a fabrication, a cover for his true purpose, that Clement Birkenbosch was a servant of a secret society deeply involved in the occult...
The Swedish version of the game was awarded "Game of the Year", the English version LexOccultum was named as "One of TOP FIVE games in 2018" (Yawningportal.org).
