Why Leather Armor?
Have you ever played a video game and thought, you would look really sweet in the armor your character was wearing? Or seen a movie where the main character had amazing armor, and you knew you could rock it out just as good, if not better than, them? We thought that ourselves many times, and we finally decided to do something about it. What we make isn't just something people wear, it a life enhancing piece of equipment. We allow people to become the heroes they have always imagined themselves as.
We don’t do this just by making a product that looks amazing, we make fully functioning protective gear that allows people to really step into the role as an adventurer.
Regardless of the road life takes them on, they knew that they will look fantastic, feel comfortable, and be able to withstand just about any punishment that gets thrown their way. This kind of product allows our customers to gain instant confidence, and a new perspective on life, as soon as they put it on. This is why we make and sell leather armor.
We have a goal of our name becoming synonymous with leather armor. We feel we can reach this goal because we strive to craft high quality leather armor that is fully protective, mobile, and completely comfortable. We have a philosophy that form should follow function. We consistently put the focus on obtaining the highest quality components, and handcrafting each individual product, to make superior armor. We use the heaviest leather we can find because it provides the greatest level of protection. We have been able to produce a few key items at this standard and have been able to gain moderate notoriety at a local level.
What we are currently lacking to progress in our dream is consistency throughout our product availability and branding development. We operate purely from the profits of our product sales, while this allows us to keep producing the same, but it does not allow us to take our business to the next level. We need the extra revenue to be able to do things like:
Place an order directly with tanners that have higher quality and thicker leather (minimum $3,000).
Place an order with manufacturers who produce custom metal fittings and decorations for the leather (minimum $1,200)
Purchase more advanced tools to expand our product lines (minimum $3,000 for dye press setup, and $4,500 for jewelry fabrication)
Develop a full marketing strategy to promote better brand awareness (minimum $1,500)
Cover the higher admissions fees of larger, nationally recognized Renaissance Festivals. (From $1,000 per event to $3,000)
If we are able to go over our goal of $10,000, we also have plans for that as well.
- Truck Maintenance and update - $5000
- Tent Trailer - $5000
- New Storage Travel Trailer - $5000
- New Mobile Building Setup for Events - $3000
We have also just become involved in a local event that won't be so local shortly, called FantasyCon. We are planning on building a brand new piece of women's armor to show our full range of ability.
We can't just stop at an awesome piece of armor. We would also like to design a new booth that can work indoors, for this event and the additional indoor events that we would like to get involved in.
Why fund us?
Keep the tradition of armor-making alive, it is a dying art, but we want to bring it back full-force.
Help build a manufacturing industry again here in the United States.
Help us grow so we can soon be at a Renaissance Faire near you.
Support a product that uses materials that are intended to last, and decreases waste by being adjustable and guaranteed for life.
Support women in business. Meredith Entrikin is the co-owner and head designer of the company. She is one of the few female designers in the field and would like to bring many products that are aimed specifically for women.
Become inspired to live your dream every time you put on the armor you will receive.
This Kickstarter campaign could not have happened without the support from the Canterbury Renaissance Festival and Fairy Princess Lolly.
Risks and challenges
We have been operating as a business for over three years. There are minimal risks for the funders because we are quite accustomed to building large volumes of products. In the past we have had a problem keeping enough components around to build our items when they are in high demand, but if we are funded that is one of the first problems we plan to fix.
We have three reliable employees that we can count on to assist us in building all the products that will be purchased through those campaign. If we have any problems arise, we do not have a problem hiring more employees to meet the demand.
If we encounter any unforeseen problems, we will be quick to communicate these issues to our supporters. We would like to make sure they feel they are a part of the project and we intend to do that by having open and honest communications.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
