Hello folks! I'm Jonny, a cartoonist from Jacksonville, Florida!
I grew up obsessed with comics and cartoons, but I always wanted to be a writer of fiction novels. Inspired by the oh-so-literary comics from printhouses like First Second and Scholastic Graphix, I created my own epic-yet-cartoony story, The Dragon Lord Saga!
Thanks to Kickstarter, I was able to print the first book, Martin and Marco... and now the second book is ready for the printer! I call it THE RIVER FOX!
The River Fox picks up where Martin and Marco left off. Marco finds himself carried off to the vast southern desert, and Martin's journey east continues as he simultaneously flees bandits and chases the army that left him behind.
The best thing about The River Fox is that we get to explore more fully this fantasy world that was introduced in volume one. New lands, new adventures, and yes, new characters! Three of my favorite characters show up in volume two: a mysterious old queen, an eager little nomad girl named Juni, and a gentle giant named Tombow.
I love this story, and I hope you do too... But when you support this campaign, you're supporting more than a single printing of a single book. I keep seeing the same reaction when I hand copies of Martin and Marco to kids. They're not just getting a piece of swag or new bookshelf addition - they're being handed a treasure: fuel for their imaginations! THAT is why I do what I do, and it's what you're helping support when you support The River Fox!
The chart above shows the cost breakdown for the The River Fox.
Book printing is the cost for the actual books. I'll be using Printninja again for the printing services - I was absolutely thrilled with their work on the first book! For the previous campaign, Martin and Marco, I printed 500 copies. Those copies have gone fast, so this time around I'm going with 750 copies.
Book shipping refers to the cost to have the books shipped to me from the Printninja printing facilities in China. The shipping costs to send rewards to Kickstarter backers are built into the reward tiers.
Processing fees is the cut that Kickstarter and its affiliates take off the top of the money we raise.
Kickstarter extras is my estimated cost for the various comics, posters and bookmarks available in the rewards.
ISBN is the unique book identifier that you see on the copyright page of the book, as well as the bar code on the back cover. These have to be registered for any book sold in stores.
Risks and challenges
The River Fox is COMPLETELY FINISHED! All that remains is to get the book printed and shipped.
In the unlikely occurrence of printing or shipping delays, I will be in touch with all backers concerning the latest updates. Other than that, there shouldn't be any problem getting the book printed and getting your rewards shipped quickly!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
