About

QUARTER LIFE CRISIS is a comedy about three college dropouts trying to pay rent, repay student loans, and above all, figure out who they are outside of societal prescriptions.

Rich, Andy and Darius just moved into their townhouse. Andy squanders the rent money on leather pants. Rich & Darius try earning the money before the day ends. And everyone learns the value of abstinence?                                  Starring: Justin Dionson, Chris Pipkin and Adam Charlton.

Yes, Quarter Life Crisis is funny, absurd and irreverent. But we're really questioning what it is to "Grow up." Kids are told daily that they can do anything that fits into our social structure: Work. Pay taxes. Retire at 65. Die.

Darius, Rich and Andy represent everyone who refuses to accept that narrative. Do they know where they're going? No. Can they pay their bills? Occasionally. Are they living their lives? Absolutely.

Hey everyone,

My name is Derrick Metellus. I’m a Respiratory Therapist and as of June 2010, a writer.

This story begins at my hang out spot, the local Barnes & Nobles. I strolled in, checked out a few books, and then I noticed it: Screenwriting For Dummies. I don’t know what drew me, there were less insulting books to choose from but… I had to have it. So I read it. And plenty of others. And two months later it was done: I wrote a horrible pilot. But wait a little over a year, and seriously about 100 drafts later, that pilot became a 2011 Scriptapalooza TV Writing Finalist, which outside of TV writing circles doesn’t mean much but it’s one of the most respected competitions. So now after a lot of work we’re readying to shoot the pilot, and maybe another episode (I’ve written 10). But I’ll need your help along the way!

Where is my money going?

Great question. I've saved up working two jobs as a RRT, and eating Chick-Fil-A five nights a week, which I don’t really mind: I love Chick-Fil-A. But as the shoot date nears, April 2012, I need to cut my hours and that money will go toward:

  • Equipment rental
  • Location rental
  • Crew
  • City permits
  • Wardrobe
  • Postproduction
  • Printing DVD’s
  • Catering

Director's Statement:

The clip above was shot on a DLSR, and in a Mockumentary format. This is NOT what we’re using for production. We are shooting on a Arriflex D-21 HD or on a Cannon of similar quality. Also, the show doesn’t break the fourth wall.

The Team

I’m lucky to have met these very talented people. Here are a few members of our dream team:

Spencer Snygg (DP) studied film at NYU and apprenticed under Jordan Cronenweth (Blade Runner). His credits include Limitless with Bradley Cooper and M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Air Bender.                                                            Site: http://www.spencersnygg.com

Ken Stachnik (AD, Lighting & Sound) Ken has worked on more than 50 film sets—everything from low-budget independent films to major studio projects for Universal, 20th Century Fox, NBC, Bravo, The History Channel and Men’s Health's website. Ken's experience includes directing, producing, screenwriting, gripping, gaffing, operating, DPing, ACing, ADing and PAing.                         Site: http://www.kenstachnik.com

Ryan McDonnell (Executive Producer & Lighting & Sound)  has worked on Forensic Files, which was one of truTV's highest rated programs and is seen in 170 countries.

Kervans Barthelemy (Producer) of Kerv Production Group studied television and film at St. John’s University. His first feature film “Kaleb” has been well received and premiered at the HCX (Haitian) film festival.

Kickstarter FAQ's

We need to reach or exceed our goal to keep any of the pledges for the show. If we don’t reach our goal we'll get nothing. It's win or lose.

If we exceed our goal I'd shed a single tear and proceed to spend it creating the best material possible.

We're making this show for people who like to laugh. If you're looking for a message you'll find it, if you're looking for a hilarious cast in insane situations, we've got you covered. This is a chance to be a part of our inception. We work daily to make this project better. Talented actors. Talented crew. Novice, but talented writer. Your donation will amplify our ability to present a project we think you'll be thrilled about. Help us put on a refreshing show that honestly depicts a Quarter Life Crisis. Please donate and spread the word!
