Tap Wars! The Craft Beer Game
A fun engaging card game that teaches you about craft beer styles as you try to put together the best beer to win the tap.
The goal of Tap Wars is to educate the players about the different styles of Craft Beer and throw them into the middle of the war that has developed due to the increased number of breweries fighting for a limited number of taps. We started the Texas Big Beer Brewery a little over two years ago and by far this is the hardest thing we have ever done, but also the most rewarding. We have taken what we have learned from owning and operating our brewery to design this game.
The game is designed to be very competitive where you need to know your beer and put together the best support team, marketing and a few special tricks to help your beer win the tap. The game takes players through seven seasons throughout the year. You may not have the best beer to win the tap for the current season, say July 4th weekend, but you can reserve some of your marketing resources for that awesome dark beer you want to roll out during the fall. The goal is not to win every tap, but to win the most taps throughout the entire year.
We need your help funding this project for several reasons.
- First - The card graphics. There are a quite a few different cards and each takes a lot to have created and we want to get everything done in a timely manner, so we can get you your rewards as fast as possible.
- Second - We are going to hire CyberLord Games to test the game for fair game play. The system needs to be systematically tested to make sure the game is competitive and can be won by the person who develops skills at planning their tap attacks over the year to win the most taps. We do not want to game to be based strictly on the luck of the draw, or have magic hands that can not be beat.
- Third - We want the rewards to be nice. We want to have the cards you receive commercially reproduced. We have a lot riding on our supporters receiving a good quality deck, because we are counting on your feedback to help us improve the game and make it even better in the final game deck.
NOTE: The test deck will be the complete game of the same quality as the final game deck, but it will be marked as "Test Deck" and will be limited to supporters only The difference between the Test and Final deck is that the final deck will have any changes to the game based on you feedback.
Due to the large number of cards required to play through seven seasons, one deck will only support four players. If you want more than four players, the game is designed so all you need to do is add one or more decks.
We really hope you are as excited about the Craft Beer Explosion as we are and you decide to help us with this project. The real purpose of this game is to educate people about one of the greatest things in the world and that is the many styles, colors and flavors of Craft Beer and of course to have a fun education game to play!

Risks and challenges
The time consuming part is already done. The basic game has been designed. The challenge now is just to get the graphics for each card done and then have the cards printed. With your support this will surely happen in a timely fashion.
The challenging part will be getting the "Test Decks" to ALL supporters quickly so we can get feedback on our developers forum from all our supporters. Each supporter will have access to this private forum. Then we will implement the changes and get the final deck out to those who picked those higher supporter packages.
NOTE: The test deck will be the complete game, which will be commercially printed and marked “Test Deck.”
The challenge will be getting everything out and completed by Christmas 2014. It is a tough goal, but we believe it is possible with your support. But, rest assured one way or the other, even if there are setbacks, we will get the game done if we meet our goal!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
