TACO vs. BURRITO is a deliciously unpredictable card game where players compete to create the weirdest, wildest meal. Created by Alex Butler, age 7, this game is easy to learn - and not so easy to win. Fun for (and play-tested by) all ages, TACO vs. BURRITO is the ultimate Game Night Food Fight!
If you dig card games, weird food, evolving game play, and adorable first-time creators, please help us make this game a reality. We think you'll love it as much as we do.
TACO vs. BURRITO started when Alex (age 7) told his mom that he wanted to create a game and launch it on Kickstarter! He started with a handful of potential game names and quickly decided on TACO vs. BURRITO and that his business name would be Hot Taco. Adorable, right? When asked how the game would work, he said he didn’t know yet but vowed to figure it out.
Alex's mom, Leslie Pierson, had successfully run a Kickstarter to launch GoodHangups in 2015. Well aware of all the time and work that goes into a campaign, she laid out all the steps needed to create a game and launch a Kickstarter. Everyone assumed he’d lose interest and it would just be a fun discussion. But each weekend, Alex would spend time dreaming up characters, testing out game play ideas, and talking through all the launch steps.
For the next few weeks, Alex (along with his parents) drafted new versions of the game and playtested them relentlessly every weekend. Alex tested the game with kids at his afterschool program and with people at the local coffee shop, gathering feedback and making tweaks to improve gameplay.
Our family loves card games and often buy a new game for each family trip. Alex relentlessly studies every card, looking for creative gameplay ideas (and ways to defeat his parents.) Below is a little "review" video Alex did on our last trip.
We particularly love Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, Unstable Unicorns, Skipbo, and Boss Monster but really we just love playing games.
Here is a video of Alex walking us through an earlier prototype of TACO vs. BURRITO:
All this testing and tweaking has transformed TACO vs. BURRITO from a cute idea into a surprisingly strategic game where game play evolves with each round and the final three minutes of the game can be a wild, unpredictable ride. TACO vs. BURRITO is fun for kids, but has enough twists and turns for adults.
We wanted to put this project on Kickstarter because it's the fastest way for us to get the game into your hands. We think you will love it or we are happy to refund your money! Whether you are Team Taco or Team Burrito, please back this project and help us bring TACO vs. BURRITO to life.

Risks and challenges
We have worked hard to ensure there is very little risk in our Kickstarter for TACO vs. BURRITO. The following work has been completed:
* The game has been extensively playtested
* Artwork and packaging are print-ready
* Professionally-sourced prototypes have been printed
* A print company has been identified for production
* Fulfillment plans have been lined up for speedy distribution.
While this is Alex's first Kickstarter, his mom, Leslie Pierson, has run a fully-funded Kickstarter for GoodHangups and will help him navigate all the work needed to pull off a successful launch. We are 100% committed to navigating any production or fulfillment challenges that come up in the campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
