About this project
"The Dragon Book" is a collaboration between my four year old daughter and I. We spent many Saturday afternoons making a book together that she wrote. It's full of fun, adventure, duck monsters and all sorts of crazy stuff. As any book written by a kid should be.
Here is a video of Story doing a "reading" of one of the stories in her book:
Stretch Goals And Extra Stuff!
A Chance To Win An Original Drawing! For everyone in the $15 tier up you now have a chance to win an original drawing for every $500 we raise! (That means at the time of this writing we already have three sketches that will be given away.) I will randomly select one person from all tiers from the $15 tier and up to win one of these drawings. These drawings will be of a combination of two or more characters from the book.
We'll be coming up with these as we go, but there is one I want to go ahead and put out there. If we reach...
$1,000 - This thang is gonna happen! - DID IT
$2,500 - We will create a new story PDF that all backers in the $15 up tier will receive. - LOCKED
$3,100- The whole printing gets a major upgrade! If we reach this goal, I will be able order many many more copies for you all and to give to the kids we meet at hospitals. Additionally every copy will receive an upgrade in paper quality and cover paper stock to an extra heavy duty cover for durability. - LOCKED
$7,000 - I'll make a brand new print design for the book for you all to choose from, additionally everyone will receive a postcard of it and the cover. ANNNNDDD Story and I will add a second story to the extra PDF. This tier is for all backers in the $15 tier up! - LOCKED
$9,500 - This is the big one. If we can get to this number every copy of the book will be a hardback edition with no increase in cost for anyone. We'll be able to a bunch of copies to kids in hospitals and a great book to you all. We can make this happen! Spread the word bout this book and what we're doing for the kids! - LOCKED
What's in the book?
Three Unlikely Friends - Can a t-rex, penguin and a kitty cat be friends?
Pirate Journey And The Dinosaur Jungle - A young pirate girl and her pet parrot get lost in... well a dinosaur jungle.
The Dragon Book - A baby dragon gets reunited with his mother... she isn't very nice.

How Will It Be Printed?
In an effort to keep the quality on the art high and the costs low, so we can give as many away with the earnings as we can, I will be looking to print this as a comic book style floppy book. Since the goal is to get this thing off the ground, this is the best place for me to start. Estimated size of 6x9 in.
However depending on how big the campaign gets I am looking into various upgrades of the book, including the potential of making the book a hardback if it all goes bananas. As the number of backers increases, the number of copies I order will go up, making it all more cost effective. These will come in the form of stretch goals as the campaign progresses.
What Are We Trying To Do?
We want to share this book with as many people as possible! With this Kickstarter we hope to fund our first print run of the book and offer backers a chance at some unique rewards that won't be available afterward.
One of our biggest hopes is that once all rewards are fulfilled we want to take the book to kids at hospitals and libraries and give it away to them... We want help brighten a kids day, give a family a book to read together and encourage them to make up their own adventures with their families and for kids to learn for themselves how to become storytellers.
What Age Is The Book Targeted For?
Well, adults find a lot of the random humor to be quite funny, but it was written by a 4 year old, so kids right in that age range will probably enjoy it quite a bit.
What are the prints going to look like? They're all 12inx18in prints printed out on a nice cardstock with a matte finish. Three pages from the book will make up the prints. Here they are!
The website address will not be on the prints.
Additionally the cover will be printed as a poster for all print orders.
I have now opened up print orders to include my Imagination Adventure paintings as seen through my website and online print shop. For your choice of prints (other than the cover print) you can now choose any of the below prints. Each are 11x14 inches and printed on heavy duty card stock with a matte gloss finish. These are super fun additions to any kids room! I've also added an additional $50 tier that includes any two of these, plus the cover poster!
Drawings By Story And Commissions By Me
The author, Story, loves to draw herself and is learning quite a bit. We thought it might be fun to include a limited number of her drawings in a reward tier along with her signing your book.
In that same tier will be a limited number of drawing commissions from me. The commissions I will be doing will all be 9x12 drawings using pen and ink, with Prisma Color black and white for toning. Here's an example:
You'll be able to choose one character for the drawing. Just keep it all ages.
And That's The Plan!
We're excited to share this book with you and others! And we're really excited about what it could mean for some of the kids we'll get to meet. I truly appreciate you considering our campaign. Thank you, so much!
UPDATE: We are now taking international orders. After looking into it a bit more I was able to determine the best way to ship the packages and keep the costs reasonable. International backers must choose the tier specifically marked with INTERNATIONAL BACKERS ONLY as these have the additional funds added to help cover the international shipping rates.

Risks and challenges
The risk of the book being completed is none. It's all finished! The only thing I am doing now is finishing up the files for printing. Let's do this thing and share this book with everyone we can!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
