I have recorded more than a few albums with my band, Fastball, and I've even done a few e.p.s on my own. I believe now is the time to put a full-length album of my own music together. I've actually been trying to plan it for some time but I keep running into the inevitable problem of funding. I have recently been made aware of Kickstarter's successful track record and have decided it is the best way to make this record happen.
With the help of the Kickstarter program this album can be made using funds raised directly from fans. In fact, there will be reward packages for all levels of funding, from pre-release digital versions of the record to private living room concerts for the most generous pledges.
I feel this material is strong enough to merit first-class production values and I won't be doing it alone. I have been working with producer Stephen Belans ironing out the kinks in the arrangements and preparing the songs for the studio. We will be working in a small but top-notch recording facility here in Austin, TX and funding will be needed to cover such costs. But the need for funding doesn't stop there, we need a professional mix engineer so the record can meet the industry standards Fastball and Tony Scalzo fans expect. We also have to pay a few awesome musicians for their valuable time and input.
It's important to note that, while I am asking for help from you, this record won't be made on your pledges alone. I have launched this project with a fixed goal but I most likely will have to spend a good bit of my own money to get this record released. By the way, if I don't meet this project's goal we get nothing. I get no money and we get no album. This is how Kickstarter works. Everyone who wants to can be involved in the album's creation. Check out the rewards I have offered.
