Hello backers,

Today is the one year anniversary of the launch of our Kickstarter campaign for Vorpal The Hexapod!  Here's an update on our company.

We're Celebrating One Year In Business!
We're Celebrating One Year In Business!

We sold about 250 hexapod kits during our campaign, and since then we've sold many more--over 1000 hexapod kits worldwide! Schools are buying our kits in bulk, we're getting orders for 10, 20, even 30 kits at a time. At least 5 STEM camps this past summer featured Vorpal The Hexapod. Your generous backing has enabled a whole new generation of students to learn about robotics, engineering, programming and other STEM subjects.

We created a few additional small kits and launched our store a couple months after our Kickstarter campaign ended, it's here: http://store.vorpalrobotics.com

But it wasn't perfectly smooth sailing! We struggled at first with quality issues on the servo motors we were sourcing. We stood behind our product and shipped replacements to affected customers, then we attacked that problem head-on and worked directly with Tower Pro to create a perfect servo for our projects, the Vorpal MG90. It's optimized for our projects and they work great!

Our latest kit is Max The Megapod. This is a super-sized version of our original hexapod, twice as big in every direction. Max is turning heads at Maker Faires, teacher conferences, and other places we've been showing it. He's on sale now with a $50 pre-order discount (LEARN MORE). Projected ship date is October 1, just a few weeks away. (STL for parts are set to drop on Sep 22 to coincide with the NYC Maker Faire). Despite the 200% size increase, we split up some of the biggest parts so Max can be printed on a build volume of just 200mm cube (about 8 inches cube).

Thanks again for your support, it's been a wild ride over the past year, but we have much more in the works!

In celebration of our one year milestone, here is a coupon that will give you 10% off all shipping products:  Just use code BACKERSROCK at the Vorpal Robotics Store. (Expires September 22, does not apply to pre-order products which are already discounted).

Take care,
