[What's This Then?]
OreZom Trails is a retro adventure game made for today's mobil devices. It's a mish-mash of games and movies from our childhoods that we’ve been tossing around between us for almost two years.
Every part of it throws back to simpler games that could laugh at themselves and had a penchant for killing the player in odd ways, with a wink and a ‘better luck next time!’
In OreZom Trails you have to save the world from a zombies curse. You have a book that contains the key to save the world, but it can only be used in Oregon, and you, unfortunately, are stuck on the east coast.
You’ll have to find supplies to keep yourself fed, fueled, and healthy while you roadtrip across the US to save humanity.
Along the way, uncover the mystery of the curse by recovering beautifully rendered journal pages, illustrated by Robert Case.
It’s a hard, lonely journey, and along the way you’ll meet other survivors who will help you - or at least make life more interesting!
You only have 30 days to use the book, so make sure you use your time wisely!
[Who are you guys?]
We are Alex Hogan and Brandon Nobbs - and we have been game developers for a long time. With your help we can Voltron-transform into HodgePodge Games!
We grew up playing Ultima, The Oregon Trail, King’s Quest, heck --- all of the Sierra games -- and many other classics that were usually simple and always fun, though not necessarily ‘easy.'
Somewhere along the way we caught the iPhone bug, and now Kickstarter has given us an opportunity to get our iPhone game made -- with just a little help from you!
OreZom Trails is mostly done, and you can bet we’re hard at work on it, even as you read this. We’ve got over 100 different zombies in, and more than that for surviving humans! We’ve already created the characters, the zombies, the world, and we have the different game modes running smoothly with nice controls.
[When will it be done?]
With your help, we want to put the finishing touches on the game, add killer music and sound fx, and have it out in time for Halloween!
[Why should we help?]We want your help putting the polish on this game! We want your help to get killer music, sound-fx, and illustrations to round it out all the gameplay and art we already have working. We want to put out a game that looks and sounds great, and we’re asking you to help give us a little push!
And if unadulterated altruism isn’t your thing, why we have just the rewards for you sir (or madam!)
At the very least you will get a fun game to play and our eternal thanks - but you also have the chance to get some really cool stuff!
Please note all the rewards are based off of US domestic shipping rates; if you live in another country we are happy to accept your support, but there will likely be extra fees to ship internationally.
If all goes well, we’ll be releasing the game in time for Halloween. If things go really, really well, we’ll take a little extra time and release the game on more devices. We'd love to have our Android toting friends play OreZom Trails too, and the iPad is a better place to see all the secret art you can find in the game, to be sure - it’s definitely worth it!
If we make our Super Stretch Goal of $50,000 we'll basically DOUBLE the content in the game with a downloadable expansion pack that will be free to ALL Kickstarter supporters, down to the single doller level!
Risks and challenges
We have a game with a lot of story and an aggressive timeline. We still have a lot to do, and some things, like music, are still in the air.
BUT we know we can get this done.
We are both seasoned game developers. Between the two of us, we have over 18 years of experience making games.
You may remember us from such games as Asheron's Call 2, Condemned 2, NCAA College Football, FEAR 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Sega Rally Revo, Gotham City Impostors, Guardians of Middle Earth, and Halo 4 (soon!)
We've been playing and making games for so long that it's in our blood now - at doses lethal to mortal men - and this game is going to burn it's way out of us, whether we are willing accomplices or just innocent host-bodies!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
