Hello! We are thrilled you've stopped to check out our project. We are Peter Dunham and Linnea Gits and we are both designers and artists and partners in the design studio, Uusi.
Blueblood Redux is an entirely custom, hand-drawn deck of limited edition playing cards based on our most popular and sold-out deck, Blue Blood – the first deck created in our eventual six deck series – three of which, Bohemia, Royal Optik and Blue Blood, have already been made. The original Blue Blood deck quickly vanished into the fictitious mist and shadows that it came from shortly after its introduction over a year ago, but by popular demand the indigo monarchs of Blue Blood have returned!
They are a bit different this time around – their courts have seen some changes. A king has been dethroned, a Jack has fallen and other court drama has ensued. The pips and indices are now hand-drawn in our signature style. We have added our unique diptych cards to the deck – a look we first created for our Royal Optik deck back in the spring of 2013 – and two new Ace animals have been created for the Heart and Diamond suits that make Blueblood Redux blue through and through!
And now, an introduction to the rulers of Blueblood Redux – it's not just a playing card deck, it's a story!

The story begins of course when they disappeared a year ago, on the night of a full moon in the last days of summer...
The Spade Court is the suit of visionaries and philosophers. The oldest and wisest of the monarchies, their King is an eccentric ruler of ancient lineage who is forever deep in profound thought. His Queen is a heavy dreamer lost in nocturnal epics. Their court has seen its first Jack fall in battle and his replacement is a determined warrior of powerful intensity. He is the watchful guard over this somnambulistic kingdom and he will not rest until his comrade's death has been avenged.
The Heart Court is the suit of passion. There has been a coup in this kingdom – a once fiercely loyal Jack has forsaken his King. With the help of a predatory comrade their king has been assassinated making the original Jack of Hearts a new and electrified Suicide King. The Jack who takes his place – and has the blood of a king on his sword – keeps a waiting, watchful eye on this new, rogue King. The flirtatious Queen too has been replaced by a glamorous and ambitious woman of the court. Their new court animal is the Eagle – a powerful bird of prey that clutches a heart draped in the court banner that holds the Latin phrase, "Cor Unum" – meaning "one heart" .
The Diamond Court is the suit of reason and finance. The wealthiest kingdom in the Blueblood realm they are the traders, explorers and court politicians. The King is a calculated ruler consumed with his wealth. His Queen holds a secret to her lips that she cannot reveal. Their Jack is a skilled assassin deployed to guard their riches and protect a hidden treasure buried deep within their mysterious lands. A rare and exceptionally valuable Peacock is their new court animal.
The Club Court is the suit of deception. The most dangerous of the blue monarchies, their kingdom rests on an island hidden by clouds and mist. When called forth, these spirit-like, soundless rulers are their enemy's fate star. Spies cannot catch a glimpse of them and the wise cannot strategize against them. Their King is knowing, inaccessible and unpredictable – an extremely dangerous ruler. His Queen is a beauty skilled in the art of deception. So great is she at controlling the thoughts of others, her manipulations go undetected. Their Jack, like his King, is not predictable. He holds to no standards of behavior save what will bring victory. Their court animal is a swan, the classic, mythological shape-shifter whose banner holds the Latin phrase "Momento Mori" – which translates as "remember your mortality." More loosely translated it is the old reminder to all card players, "You gotta know when to fold em'".
Blueblood Redux Jokers It wouldn't be a Blueblood Court without a Joker with a case of the moody blues! Depending on which way this guy is dealt you either get a happy or sad fool.
Blueblood Redux Signature Diptych Ad Card One of our favorite cards to design are the Uusi Ad Cards. Because they are essentially blank canvases with no playing card need, we can be as playful as we want with them. In the spring of 2013 we came up with the idea to make these cards into a diptych for our Royal Optik deck. This was a new idea we had not seen used before and the result was so successful it quickly became a signature look for our decks. For Blueblood Redux we created a serpent-like dragon – a legendary creature who lurks in the deep mists of the Blueblood kingdoms and holds the decks title banner in his powerful claws.
- Fifty-two playing cards and two jokers – all with original, eye-catching artwork that makes them ideal for magic and card games, yet at the same time very familiar and immediately recognizable by players and spectators alike.
- Two illustrated Uusi Design ad cards that form a diptych.
- Printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPC) in a run of no more than 5000 decks. Print run size will be determined by demand and will be strictly limited.
- Made on Bicycle playing card stock with an Air Cushion Finish.
- Linen/embossed finish on tuck box.
*All images of the deck and tuck boxes you see in these photos are prototypes made at Uusi's studio. The finished product may vary slightly from what you see here – backers will be kept up-to-date of any minor changes that may occur. The overall design and theme will remain UNCHANGED throughout the funding and printing process.
Blueblood Redux Uncut As with all our uncuts, we produce a limited quantity of 100 sheets. When creating our decks we always keep in mind how they will look as a whole which lends a sense of unity and beauty to these final sheets. We think they are not only enjoyable for collectors, but can stand as works of art suitable for framing.
FUNDING Creating these decks is a passion project that we have enjoyed sharing with the card collecting community all over the world. To make these highly unique, limited edition decks all with original, hand-drawn artwork requires an enormous amount of design time and the help of people like yourself to bring them into the world. We are committed to producing them with high, artistic standards and choose to have them printed by the established and renown United States Playing Card Company. Our goal with the decks we produce is to bring you value and years of enjoyment.
