Las Gardenias is a feature documentary about a group of internally displaced women women, victims of Colombia's armed conflict who participate in a Drama Therapy program aimed at improving community well being and mental health. These women have come to a place in their process in which they, want to share their story through a a piece of self-revelatory theatre.
We have already followed part of their therapy and the progress they have made over the last nine months. In order to finish the film, we want to write, direct, and produce a play in and give these women the opportunity to tell their stories to Colombia and the rest of the world.
We need of your help to make this happen. Your contribution will be spent on wardrobe, set designs, lighting, music, rehearsals, transport, coaching and a theater in which we will show the play to the public.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge to finish the film is to get together with them, help them write and put together the theatre play. It´s going to be intense work during a couple of months from pre-production until the play is finally shown to the public.
We will need a strong commitment to finish the project, not only from us but from the women we are working with, because they still have families to maintain and other responsibilities. But we are sure, that once we have the resources it should be no problem for us to get together with them and put together a theater play that will show not only to Colombians, but to the whole world what this women went through and how thanks to their strength they were able to endure it and go on with their lives in a new environment.
The film, will be based in all the process they go through to make the play happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
