If you’ve ever played an escape game you’ve probably had a similar experience to ours.
You find yourself trapped in a small poorly drawn room, forced to solve insanely illogical puzzles; like searching for keys that open locked drawers containing more keys. Looking for numbers written on barrels or cutting open couch cushions in search of clues... (don’t couch cushions have zippers?) Or you’re collecting items drawn so poorly you are unsure of what you’ve actually found. All the while you’re asking yourself why anyone would hide worthless items inside their couch or write secret codes on their furniture. On top of this the background music is repetitive and annoying and you have no choice but to mute it. The only thing that keeps you going is the satisfaction you receive when you finally escape the painful experience.
Our common frustrations helped us envision an escape game that would confront the issues and set a new standard in the genre. Working together our dream of a great Escape Game started to become a reality with the development of The Great Zoo Escape!
Zoo Escape is an escape game with professionally drawn backgrounds and items, that follows a logical but challenging plot. It includes animation, multiple rooms and a mini game within the game. It’s set to an enjoyable soundtrack with realistic sound effects. The end result is a game experience that’s engaging and satisfying, challenging but enjoyable - one that you walk away from with no regrets of your time spent playing.
We are well into the development of Zoo Escape. The game design and content are already fully developed. We have also completed all the rough art for every scene and every item in the game. We are so close to the completion of the game but we can’t do it alone!! We need you to join us for 3 reasons:
1. A Computer Programmer. We have enlisted the services of a computer programmer and need funds to complete the beta version and make it available, pay for unity porting costs and copyright fees.
2. A Sound Designer. In order to bring the music and sound effects to the quality we desire we need to hire and pay a sound designer who can get us there. This will add volumes to the final product.
3. We want YOU to be a part of this project. Having you back us, give your feedback, your suggestions and helping us work through the bugs, will give us confidence that we are producing something great and worthwhile.
Who we are
We are 4 siblings; 3 brothers and a sister, who have grown up with a profound appreciation for video games. Growing up so close together caused intense rivalry between the 4 of us. To this day it is not uncommon to find us at family gatherings locked in a never ending tournament of Dr. Mario or all day epic battles of Heroes of Might and Magic.
For years we have discussed video games we would love to play or changes we would like to see made to our favorite games. Now our opportunity has arrived thanks to Kickstarter! For the first time we are able to make our gaming dreams a reality. We literally have dozens of game ideas across numerous genres and gaming styles just waiting to be explored and developed.
This is our first step into the world of game development, but with your help it will be the first of many games to come. Out of a long list of possible first projects we chose to develop Zoo Escape because we believe it has a wide appeal and a more realistic project scope. We also felt the ‘room escape’ genre is growing in popularity but still falling far short of its true potential. As a result we felt this was a good first project for us, with the highest probability of success.

I am happy to announce that Linux builds will be an option for backers.
Risks and challenges
One of the main challenges is going to be getting the game onto multiple platforms and working out all of the bugs. We will also have to get approval to post the game on the app store.
Since this is the first video game we are creating, we must be able to learn as we go and therefore adapt to issues as they arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
