Releasing a self-produced CD can cost anywhere from 10K-25K depending on several factors.
I’ve been making my own records and CDs since 1974, so I’ve learned a lot about how to produce a CD efficiently.
On this CD we’re only recording originals, so royalty payments to other writers will be ZERO.
We produce our own records. We do NOT pay for an outside producer. Studio time and engineering only.
Our producer, Allen Crider, owns his own facility. This basically cuts our costs by one-half in this area.
I don’t over-press. We learned this lesson the hard way. Generally, we press 2,000 copies only in our first wave.
For the most part, the CHB plays on its own records. Very little spent on outside players.
What are the expenses?
1) Studio time
2) Studio engineer
6) Printing and pressing of CDs (approx $2500)
7) Shipping/promo costs
In general our CDs can be produced for 10-15K.
In this specific case, some of the pre-production work has already been done. About $1000. Some of the funding we can, as on every project, provide ourselves.
Demos/scratch tracks have been produced on the following songs:
1) Her Crazy Brave Love
2) Jezebel Jones
3) Whiskey-Drinkin’ Women
4) The Long Goodbye
5) Something Better
6) The Life I Never Had
7) Big Dreams
8) Shadowland, Texas (instrumental)
9) The Old Part of Town
10) Our Future Isn't What it Used To Be
11) Unnamed Instrumental
12) The Bad Girl I Keep in My Heart
We feel that our songs are excellent, and that this could be the best CD the CHB ever released.
ANY funds we receive above our pledge goal will be used to produce this CD. All money will be accounted for.
