Whether you print to live or live to print, one thing is inevitable; plastic scrap. 3D printing is growing well beyond the home printer and into multiple industries; medicine, architecture, engineering, product design, and manufacturing to name a few. The one common denominator of 3D printing in all these applications is scrap. Whether it's from extruder loading or a bad print or an old model, plastic scrap is an issue that will not go away or solve itself.
That's where we come in. RePLAy 3D is the first mail-in recycling program for the 3D industry. Our program is designed to make recycling old PLA and ABS simple and straightforward for home printers, commercial printers, and learning institutions.
Not only are we a recycler, we are also a manufacturer! We work with a US-based filament manufacturer to create 100% recycled PLA and ABS for use with multiple types of printers. After extensive testing, we found our PLA and ABS filaments to be comparable to filaments made with virgin resin. Our goal is close the loop with 3D printing waste and 3D filaments.
When you purchase a reel of our PLA or ABS filaments, you will be automatically signed up for our RePLAy Rewards program. Our Kickstarter campaign is a pre-sale, not a fundraiser. We have our manufacturer ready to take orders and our recycling program ready to accept scrap. What we need is 3D printers looking for high-quality filament at a reasonable cost that want a responsible solution for disposing of their 3D printing waste.

Risks and challenges
RePLAy 3D is still a work in progress. This pre-sale will be our test for the entire operation. We will need a few weeks lead time after the Kickstarter campaign is over to process and manufacturer the filaments. We have already processed a trial run of both PLA and ABS filaments and both take a few weeks to manufacture.
With the roll-out of a new company, there will be bumps in its first phase. We hope to iron out technical issues on our website and fix any logistical issues with delivering our product as we encounter them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
