About this project

Hello! We’re the team behind The Vamp, a revolutionary, award-winning audio device that transforms any old speaker into a great-sounding portable Bluetooth speaker.
After running a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013 for The Vamp and selling over 10,000 units worldwide, we received brilliant feedback from our backers and are proud to introduce the new The Vamp Stereo, designed for all of those who want to bring back stereo sound to their old speakers.
For those without speakers, we designed The Vamp Speaker. It’s made out of sustainable and recycled materials and pairs perfectly with The Vamp Stereo. Both products follow the same sentiment as The Vamp and allow you to continue to #SaveASpeaker.
The Vamp Stereo
The Vamp Stereo is a new kind of amplifier that transforms any two speakers into a portable Bluetooth stereo system. It has twice the sound of The Vamp.
"Hooked up The Vamp to an old hi-fi speaker, and the volume, depth and richness of sound is superb. Finally my old speakers can be useful for something!"
- Christina Greenwood
If you already have speakers
Simply connect them to The Vamp Stereo, link it with any of your Bluetooth devices (e.g. smartphone, tablet, laptop) and bring back stereo sound to your old speakers.
The Vamp Speaker
The Vamp Speaker was designed for all of those who loved the idea of The Vamp, but did not have their own speaker to connect it to.
If you use The Vamp Speaker
Connect The Vamp Stereo with The Vamp Speaker, link it with any of your Bluetooth devices, and experience great stereo sound from a truly sustainable speaker.
Connect more speakers
We are excited to announce that you can connect two additional speakers to The Vamp Speaker. This allows for louder and deeper sound configurations, stereo separation, and of course provides even more incentive to #SaveASpeaker.
How to add more speakers
Plug the wires from the back of your additional speakers into The Vamp Speaker’s corresponding inputs. Then, sit back and enjoy the ultimate stereo sound.
Looking for a beautiful vintage speaker to pair with The Vamp Speaker? You can pledge at the £99 level to receive one vintage speakers or £149 to receive two, hand picked by our designer Paul Cocksedge from our recycling centres.

Following our successful Kickstarter campaign for The Vamp, we opted to come back to Kickstarter for The Vamp Stereo and The Vamp Speaker because we didn’t want to launch it through an existing brand manufacturer. That would have meant losing control over things like design, marketing, and price.
We want to keep ownership of all aspects of the product in order to have a direct relationship with our users––that’s you guys!
Kickstarter helped us form a close-knit community of people who love good speakers and care about sustainability. By returning to Kickstarter, we can continue to watch this amazing community grow!
Where does the funding go?
On top of the £30k in development we’ve spent ourselves, we still need funding for the following:
- Injection molding tools.
- Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ). Factories often require MOQs of thousands of units per design, which is a risk for a startup. With your help we can fund our first line of production.
- Development trips. Over the next several months we will need to go to Asia to manage and oversee development, tooling and production, to make sure the product lives up to your expectations.
- R&D - November, December 2016
- Tooling manufacture - January, February 2017
- First batch run for testing - March 2017
- Final production run - April 2017
- Delivery - May 2017

Risks and challenges
Once we have succeeded in raising the funds we need to launch The Vamp Stereo, any risks and challenges would be entirely logistical, most likely similar to any other project involving new technology, dedicated manufacturing and mass distribution.
For example, there may be unforeseeable problems with tooling and equipment or obstacles in the manufacturing process, which could have an effect on our delivery and launch schedules. That said, these are potential problems that we have already factored into our production schedule.
If you have any concerns, please refer to our websites for our history and past projects: www.paulcocksedgestudio.com and www.paulcocksedgeshop.com. We have many years of experience in taking products to the market and some of the complex projects we've undertaken have been executed across the world - all of them on time and on budget.
We are confident that the years of intensive research and planning that has gone into The Vamp Stereo plus the experience from launching The Vamp on Kickstarter in 2013 will be sufficient to ensure a smooth transition from the drawing-board to the workshop and finally to the market.
With your support, we are planning to have these products in your hands by May 2017. We hope that you are inspired and excited by the idea and choose to support the project. Please spread the word and share this campaign with your friends.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Simple! Because it revamps all those brilliant old speakers we have lying around in attics and cellars, restores them to their former glory and is now stereo.
Yes. It has been successfully patented.
Bluetooth is a global standard designed to work on any device. If your device has Bluetooth, it will work with The Vamp Stereo.
Yes, it can!
The Vamp Stereo was designed to connect to two speakers. If you want more sound, we recommend that you get The Vamp Speaker, which allows you to connect two additional speakers.
6. My speaker cables are not black/red. Does it matter which one goes into which speaker connector on The Vamp Stereo?
No matter what the colour, the speaker wires from both speakers have to be connected into the connector of The Vamp Stereo in the same way. This may require some experimentation, but it will not in any way damage The Vamp Stereo.
Once we reach our MOQ, we’ll begin production immediately after the Kickstarter campaign.
Yes, you can! Please multiply the pledge amount + shipping to reflect the number of units you would like to receive and send us a message with your request so that we can ensure that you will receive the correct number of rewards.
The Vamp Speaker was specifically designed for just The Vamp Stereo. It is light weight, portable, twice as loud as the original, and produces stereo sound.
10. I only have one other speaker. Is it possible to connect just one speaker to The Vamp Speaker and have stereo separation?
Yes, you can!
Yes, you can!
The Vamp Speaker was designed to connect to only two additional speakers via the connectors on the back panel.
The speaker’s box is made out of a sustainable FSC OSB board, which is low toxic and has a low footprint as it is produced from small trees that are usually farmed. The speaker cones and all electronics are made out of recycled materials.
No, but if you would like a mono setup please refer to our original version of The Vamp.
15. Will The Vamp Speaker have a removable The Vamp Stereo, so I can sometimes just take The Vamp Stereo and not carry The Vamp Speaker?
Yes, The Vamp Speaker has a magnetic dock so you can easily remove The Vamp Stereo.
Yes, it can!
Yes, The Vamp Stereo has a 3.5mm audio jack so that you can directly connect to a device (i.e. phone, tablet, iPod, laptop, etc.) that doesn't have Bluetooth. Simply use the audio cable provided and insert into the headphone jack of your device.
