This is the Spooky Update

Hello Boils and Ghouls! Welcome to our Halloween…ish update! We’ve been up to our eyeballs in pirates and half-genies but thought it was high time that we came up for air long enough to share some news with ya’ll!

First, some bidness

The new website redesign is coming along nicely and we're super stoked about it.  We hope to have it live in a few weeks and then the real fun can begin!  We don't want to oversell it or anything, but in our unbiased opinion it will be the greatest website in the history of the internet.  Fact.

We have received our final list of Kickstarter backers and begun the arduous task of collating all of the data.  Who knew that 18,558 backers was so many people?  I mean, we knew it was a lot, but it's like, A LOT a lot.   And that's not counting the PayPal backers O.O  We expect to send out emails to all backers (both Kickstarter and PayPal) in the next week or two to determine who has pledged multiple times and on which sites.  Once we have gathered that info we will confirm that the proper accounts are connected on our end and then confirm those backers' desired  reward tiers and combine their pledges accordingly.

Once all current pledges are combined we will have accurate quantities for the remaining limited reward tiers ($350 and above) and put those rewards on the PayPal store.  So for those of you who have been asking, we'll let you all know very soon (thanks for your patience ^_^)

Costumes, Clubs, and Shows of the Regular kind

Guess what?  Apparently it's Halloween next week!  I know, we were just as surprised to find that out as you are.  The last time we were in any major department store we bought a Christmas tree and some Easter eggs.  Anyway, we thought what better way to celebrate than with a Halloween Gamer Costume Contest!!  We were blown away by all of the incredible fanart that you guys made for the Crunchyroll contest and figured there are probably a lot of you that get dressed to the nines for Halloween.  So dust off your Mario caps and make sure your Sonic sneakers are clean because our 5 Favorite Videogame Costumes (any videogame, not just WayForward games) will receive a free download code for Mighty Switch Force! 2 on Wii U!!!!  Exclamation point!  Just email a pic of your costume (family friendly obviously, we may not be kids but we're kids at heart) and the name of the game that inspired it to

If you need a break from making your amazing gaming costume and are looking for something to do in Southern California this Saturday you should head on over to Club Microwave!  Our illustrious composer Jake"Virt" Kaufman will be in attendance making all your favorite noises alongside some other amazing chiptune artists.  This one's not to be missed!

Anyone here a fan of Regular Show?  Do you happen to live in Southern California?  And do you like videogames (I certainly hope so)?  Then you should come to the Regular Show: Mordecai & Rigby in 8-bit Land Launch Party!  WayForward directors Jeff Luke and James Montagna will be in attendance who you have likely seen in some of our WayForwardTV live-streams and Jake "Virt" Kaufman will be playing music live!  Again!  He can't be stopped!  No seriously it's kind of a problem, he just keeps making music constantly.

Meanwhile, in the land of Kicks and Starts

We’ve been so overwhelmed by all of the amazing support we’ve received from the Kickstarter community that we felt it would be wrong not to spread the love around a bit. Therefore we’d like to share some of our favorite campaigns currently live on Kickstarter:

Boogerman is back! Boogerman Co-creator Michael Stragey is the man behind many of WayForward's most beloved sidescrollers of yesteryear, and now he needs your help! Mike pioneered our Game Boy Advance technology and lead the charge on Sigma Star Saga, Shantae Advance, Godzilla Domination, Scorpion King: Sword of Osiris, and many more from that wondrous age of pixel gaming! Now that he and Boogerman's other Co-Creator Chris Tremmel are heading back to Booger-ville, please consider helping them out!

Everyone should also check out You Are Not The Hero, one of our favorite new Kickstarter campaigns. This game looks super fun and is a neat twist on classic RPGs. They already blew past their funding goal but could totally use your help in hitting their Stretch Goals!

I know this is old but thanks for all of the awesome news and great links! Thanks!

Curse you. You had to mention "You Are Not The Hero." Really, did you have to?
Now I'm throwing money at it before I even as I'm complaining about being pointed at something I basically will need to fund/buy just due to the concept.

Kidding aside, thanks for pointing out that Kickstarter. I've always been interested on that side of a classical RPG and the story concept looks interesting.

Seeing as you bothered to draw it, might as well make it an in game skin.

Can we have vampire-Shantae as a costume in the game? Even if it's only visual? :PP

    5. Mark John Vignone Jr. on October 25, 2013

Got just the costume in mind, so here's hoping.

"You Are Not The Hero" looks really good, but has there been any word on consoles?

    6. Guilherme Reis Bonfim on October 25, 2013

Great stuff! Really liked the costume contest poster, btw.

About the other kickstarters, it's nice seeing Boogerman coming back. I still have the original genesis cartridge here (not to mention 2 different copies of the first Jim game) but I think the timing was unfortunate. I hope enough people are interested in the idea too so that in the future everyone can enjoy that title.

Im skeptic about boogerman. By that i mean the amount they need for the game kickin. 2d side scroller and bein a game dugg up from the past which as of today no one knows.Like James pond. That said, im gona be watching over it, seeing if people believe this has potential.

Oooh! Up-fri-dates! Time to draw now.

    9. Chris Leonido on October 25, 2013

Regarding on the Halloween costume thing, we will be able to see the other submitted costumes if one of us doesn't win the prize? I'm already brainstorming for a decision for a costume for this contest.

    10. Antonio Ortiz on October 25, 2013

Trust me guys, it was a REALLY nice surprise to know that Boogerman devs already worked in Shantae :333 (Wayforward, I don´t know how you do that, but you are always working with da best : D)

@Beatrice no Halloween for me this year too, but at least, games, movies and everything else get a Halloween theme or extras, so we won´t be bored at least : p

    11. Beatrice Bueno Iank on October 25, 2013

      Hooray for awesome update!
And I backed Boogerman today, before this update came up! ^_^

And since Halloween isn't a thing down here, there will be no dressing up for me... :( This year, at least.

    12. Kristoffer Brandberg on October 25, 2013

      Already backed Boogerman. ^v^
