Backer Enemy #3 Revealed!

Posted by WayForward (Creator)

Happy Monday, Backers!

We’ve got an exciting update for you today, which includes our vote results, and backer build info! But before we go there, let’s take a look at a brand new foe, guaranteed to make you reconsider your life choices!

Check out this new enemy from Backer Ronald! Its official name is Cyclops Omicron Aquatis, but you can call it Omicron for short. These pesky enemies can be found on land or under the sea. The mischievous little starfish monsters will stick to any hero that wanders too close, limiting their movement until shaken loose! Speed Runners, beware and be aware! Thanks to Backer Ronald for this sticky new addition to the Shantae universe! We look forward to slaughtering Omicrons by the dozens.

Backer Build This Week!

We’re almost done updating the Backer Build! If you’re a part of that reward tier, you’ll be able to enjoy another sample of the game, with new tunes, enemies, and a brand new environment! If you got the E3 Backer Build a few months back, the same demo will automatically update via Steam (unless you’ve disabled auto-updates, in which case you’ll need to check your Steam preferences). If you never received the E3 Backer Build and are going to get the game for the first time, please see the instructions in Update #71. Enjoy the game!

Vote Results!

The votes have been tallied, and we have a winner! You collectively chose the headset and sporty looking outfit shown here! Nice job! When Rottytops and friends go undercover to unmask the magic carpet thief, you’ll see Rottytops in this outfit during the cinematic! It was a close call -- so if for some reason outfit 4D is unable to perform its duties due to illness or injury, outfit 4C will take its place.

Have you heard of Indivisible? The new game from our friends over at Lab Zero and 505 Games.

Indivisible is inspired by classics like Valkyrie Profile and Super Metroid, but with the unique character, world, and gameplay depth Lab Zero is known for, and will feature a stunning soundtrack by legendary Japanese game music composer, Hiroki Kikuta.

If you like what you see, head on over and help them out!

See you next update!!

Thanks for plugging indivisible, that game needs way more word of mouth.

@Vince Vazquez Hmmm, it sounds like you're really just having issues with your Paypal. Not counting TFH and Indivisible, I've backed something like 4 other game projects off of IGG (Skullgirls/CrossCode/Yatagarasu/Odallus) along with some independent movies, and everything went about as smoothly as whatever I've backed on KS. If I see a cool project that looks legit and it needs support, I'm there!

KS has its own problems too. That whole ordeal with Dimension Drive's first campaign wouldn't have happened on IGG. Lab Zero also said that they were able to start working on their new character before the Skullgirls campaign was even over, because they got paid as soon as the funding goal was reached. So there are definitely pluses and minuses to both platforms.

But hey, do what you want with your money man. You might be missing out on something cool though! I'm really hoping to see Shantae and Ajna share the spotlight together one day.

Awesome stuff! Love Rotty's outfit and the new enemies sound like a good addition to things.

I wish Indivisible was on KS. I love Skullgirls - I'd gladly pitch into their new project (it looks AMAZING), but they're on IGG instead so I won't.

Kickstarter lets me directly use cards, or link my Amazon account (which everyone has). IGG just uses Paypal for everything, and as per usual for that scummy company, if you try and use cards directly through them, they magically error (every. damn. time) and can't run it. A problem that's suddenly fixed if you sign up for an account with them (like people need ANOTHER place online with all their personal info and credit cards) and just use that. That way, they can say you don't need an account - just bring your card and run it through Paypal. But that never works; it's all just a scheme to get your info. I don't need, nor do I ever want, my card info on Paypal. I don't care how rarely a promising title comes to IGG (Them's Fightin' Herds too, was a recent game that I wished I could've supported), I refuse to do anything with IGG unless they kick Paypal to the curb. It's insane they don't handle direct transactions. Truly.

Wish 'em the best of luck though. They don't look like they have much momentum though, and that's a shame, but... well, they should've brought Indivisible to Kickstarter. IndieGogo sucks.

If Shantae appears as a recruitable Indivisible character as a crossover, I'm so backing it.

Nice, I like the new monster design, good to get some variety from the backers. I saw that Indivisible IGG but it looks really bland and at its pace it wont make goal, so I don't much see the point in trying to save it now, some things you gotta let die, they already have a publisher for it I think.

    7. Jack Lok on

Pretty good monster design even if it's concept isn't the most original.

      Thanks for the update !

Yes, indivisble needs more coverage! Please make this project happen everyone!

4D Master Race! Rotty looking great! Also a big fan of the new enemy. Speed runners BEWARE!!!!

Interesting enemies! I hope Shantae has a "heavy/struggling" animation when she's slowed down by enough of those things a la Wind Waker.

And cool results for the Rottytops outfit! My vote was for 4C, but 4D was my 2nd choice.

Looking forward to the updated Demo!

And hooray for Indivisible! Lab Zero's doing some cool stuff over there, so anyone who hasn't checked out their prototype needs to do so, and support 'em!

is the enemy from planet Omicron Persei 8?

    14. Perplex on

The designer broke the monster girl combo but it's still cool. Reminds me of the fuzzy things from Wind Waker.

Yes. The Indivisible Prototype ( that you can download yourself) is extremely polished and very fun/gorgeous. Thank you for helping them out.

This game always looks more fun every time I see it. Just had to replay Shantae Risky's Revenge because of looking forward to this. =)
