About this project
If you are new to KickStarter - if you Back/Fund/Support/Pledge this project you will receive the rewards on the right hand side if this project is at least 100% funded!
(A lot of my supporters have asked about Snowman and Santa lines that I am working on as well ~ I have added them as rewards and photos at the bottom as well!!!)
As a freshman in high school, I started a small craft business selling handmade clay figurines at local art shows. I am creating reproductions of my original designs to give me the ability to continue to create and develop Corrado Creek while working full time! I have worked with a team of carvers and painters to replicate the Corrado Creek Nativity Line.
I am seeking your support to develop the nativity collection further by raising the funds for molding and prototyping additional pieces for the nativity collection. To create the mold, each design costs $35/inch - about $200 per design per mold. For past designs it has taken 2 rounds of molds and multiple prototypes to finalize the reproductions. I am hoping to create an additional 10 designs to add to the Corrado Creek Collection.
In return for your support you will receive your own Corrado Creek nativity collection from the first round of reproductions! The Corrado Creek nativity will be shipped to you in the beginning of December and will make excellent holiday gifts.
My mom, who is a nativity collecto herself, initially inspired me to start designing nativities. The first set I chose for reproduction is the “Praise Joseph” set. Over the past 8 years I have found that the Praise Joseph nativity set created the most emotional response from Corrado Creek customers; laughing and sharing what they think Joseph and Mary are expressing. I decided to launch this nativity as my first reproduction piece with the hope that each nativity warms and touches your family and friends hearts.
As the artist each person has a different thought at what each piece is saying: "Praise the Lord", "Touch Down!", "Do I have to give up my prized lamb?", "He's born!", "Finally We Made It!", "He's so cute", "Bah", "Happy Birthday Jesus!" , "What do I do now?", "There's the star!" What do you think that they are saying?
I started Corrado Creek when I was a freshman in high school by creating and selling handmade figurines. I worked in clay with my mom at our family art studio to craft santas, snowmen and nativities. Each Corrado Creek design has a piece of my personality from Santa Claus fishing, hitting the ski slopes or preparing for bed with teddy bear in hand. Through high school, my mom and I would spend time together in the studio crafting our collections. We spent weekends during the fall selling our originals at local craft shows and high school art shows.
As a college student, I moved away from home and my art studio. It became harder to get my hands into the clay. I started to design with mass production in mind and took Corrado Creek in a new direction. As a junior in college I traveled to China with a local Cincinnati gift company to learn about mass production and the possibility to take the next step with Corrado Creek. As a senior, I learned about licensing the Corrado Creek line and the opportunity to cultivate my designs through mass production.
After graduation I lived in Nanning, China training a team of carvers and painters to replicate my designs. With successful molds, prototypes, and production, I was able to develop the first part of my nativity collection! I would like to continue to expand upon this set to include additional animals and people. Growing up, my mom gave me a basic nativity set for Christmas and each year I was given an additional piece. I would like to see families grow their nativities each year piece by piece with the Corrado Creek Nativity set!
This KickStarter campaign is your opportunity to start collecting the Corrado Creek Nativity collection for your family and friends, while supporting my dream of developing pieces to add to the Corrado Creek Nativity Collection. Thank you for your support.
The nativity collection you receive as a reward will be shipped to you during the first week of December and will come with an artist bio! Throughout the year we will document new pieces created and release 2013 designs!
