Have you ever tuned in to watch the skateboarders in the X Games or snowboarders in the Olympics and wondered how cool it must feel to be able to nail those awesome tricks? We definitely have, so we created a toy that gives players of all ages, skill levels, and athletic abilities the opportunity to throw and stick gnarly tricks.
Flypdeck is the judge as you and your friends compete in attempting to land any of the game's 40 tricks. Use combinations of twisting, corking, and flipping to throw the tricks. The flypdeck uses our software paired with motion sensing technology to determine if tricks are landed successfully. Three difficulty settings and five game modes keep flypdeck fun and challenging for players of all ages and skill levels. We designed the game modes to make flypdeck fun to play by yourself in Solo Ladder and Solo Points, against a friend in F-L-Y-P-S, or with a group of friends in Freeplay mode.
Flypdeck is challenging even for the most seasoned flippers.....
.....but is also a blast for those just getting into the flipping game!
Toss the fidget spinners, recycle your water bottles, and Find Your Flyp!
Playing is easy! When trying tricks, hold the flypdeck flat and face up until the green light comes on and you hear a beep. Flip and catch the flypdeck. You need to land in the same orientation as you started for the trick to count. The flypdeck tells you if you landed a trick sketchy or perfectly, and will also either randomly tease you or offer words of encouragement if you don’t land the trick.
Our take on the classic game of 2 player HORSE. When one player lands a trick, the other player has to land that same trick or they get a letter. The first player to force the other player to earn F-L-Y-P-S wins the game!
Climb the trick ladder against a set trick list. The number and difficulty of the required tricks change based on the difficulty level chosen. Each time you miss a trick you lose a life. If you land all of the tricks before losing all 10 of your lives you beat the game!
Flip away for 60 seconds to try and rack up as many points as possible. Earn multipliers for landing tricks consecutively. The more difficult the trick, the more points you earn. Don't cherry pick, each time you land the same trick you earn half the points! High scores are tracked per difficulty level, if you beat the high score you get to enter your initials!
Learn new tricks, practice tricks, or make up your own game mode with a group of friends. Freeplay is also where you can land the secret trick sequences to unlock the 4 secret tricks!

We need capital to set up high volume manufacturing and Kickstarter is our favorite crowdfunding platform, it's as simple as that. The Kickstarter community is awesome and we can't wait to deliver an amazing product that was only possible with your help!
- Face plate mold to produce plastic face plate
- Body mold to produce foam body to house all of the electrical components
- Battery cover mold to produce the battery cover
- Foam material and plastic material that each get injected into their respective molds
- Electrical components
- Manufacturing and assembly labor
- Required certifications (FCC for USA, IC for Canada, RCM for Australia)
- Instruction manual printing
- Shipping units to ourselves for packaging
- Shipping units to our backers

Our progress (in pictures)
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out flypdeck. An even bigger thank you to all of you who are considering backing the project. If this Kickstarter campaign is successful we'll be one step closer to our goal of introducing the fun of flypdeck to people all over the globe. Thank you!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge for this project will be scaling the manufacturing while maintaining product quality. In our current state we are personally molding, assembling, and programming units, which gives us full control over the process. As the demand rises, we will inevitably need to outsource some if not all of these tasks. Plastic and foam parts have been redesigned for mass production tooling and assembly and we have already gathered quotes from several manufacturers for one-stop-shop manufacturing. This manufacturing approach fosters accountability and speeds up production.
We will be ready to move out on manufacturing as soon as our campaign ends. Depending on the amount of money we raise, we'll either be immediately headed overseas to supervise the setup of our manufacturing line or we'll be partnering with some talented folks locally to assemble the flypdecks ourselves. We are prepared to execute in either case.
Another obvious challenge is designing an electronic product that will be thrown and dropped hundreds or even thousands of times. Our current version is able to withstand a serious beating and our new Kickstarter reward version will be even more durable. Our backers should feel free to flyp with (reasonable) fervor!
Our team has a combined 24 years of engineering experience, including engineering design and manufacturing of plastic and metal parts. We have leveraged our formal training with 3D CAD modeling software to produce models and drawings that will be used to create the production tooling. We have experience working with international manufacturers to produce parts and assemblies to meet drawing specifications. Our experience includes traveling to manufacturing sites in both Asia and Europe to oversee the setup and initial runs of new manufacturing lines.
We appreciate that certifications were put in place for a reason, so we're only going to ship to countries where we can obtain the proper certifications. We believe that in our estimated timeline and with expedited samples, we will be able to obtain the FCC and safety certs for the USA, IC for Canada, and EMC for Australia. Unfortunately we are unable to certify our flypdecks for any other countries at this time. Our goal is for folks to eventually have the opportunity to play flypdeck regardless of where they live, and we will work towards that goal!
We firmly believe and will do everything in our power to have flypdecks shipped to our backers by October 2018, which leaves some breathing room for the holidays. Consider flypdeck for a unique and fun gift for your loved ones!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
